We got a 24 with everything you could possibly need and leather interior for less than 40. Rides nice great gas mileage. Only negative I see is road noise.

Toyota has always had interiors and electronics somewhere between obsolete and bland, and powertrain performance middling at best. Fan Boys put up with it because every one of them is going to drive it 500k miles. Until they decide their car payment isn't high enough and they justify buying something else.
So we’re forgoing frivolous bells and whistles for reliability but then are going to ditch the reliable vehicle?

I resemble that remark Sir! I'll have you know that I only have 340,000 miles on my 2004 Tundra and the mechanic that changed my sparkplugs at 334K was scratching his head trying to figure out how it was still starting. The original timing belt still looked good to go at 298K..
I like knobs on my radio. Old girl runs like a champ now.

inside. I’d seriously rather drive the Nissan equivalent than this pos.
If you think the RAV4 is bad I have some news for you about the Nissan.

keep in mind SUVs (of all sizes) are now far more popular than sedans.
so, all the people that would have in the past bought a Camry or corolla are now buying a RAV4

The new CRVs are crap too yet every lesbian and man with a dog less than 25 pounds buy them like they’re going out of style. Cramped interior and a display from 2015.
My first CRV I gave to my kid when LSU happened and it only had 9,000 miles on it.
So, then I bought my previous CRV before my current one which was a 2010 and it lasted until earlier this year.
The only work I had to do on it for those 16 years was standard maintenance stuff and 2 recalls.
One recall was the replacement of the driver's side airbag which every Japanese car make & model which had the "exploding shrapnel" type airbag had to have done and one recall was for a software update for the transmission.
The only reason I finally traded it in was because Honda said they were no longer going to provide any future software updates for that model.
And when I traded it in for my new CRV the trade in amount was only $6,000 less than my original purchase price after 16 years.
And I assure you I'm not a lesbian nor do I own a dog which weighs less than 25 lbs.

You do realize not all cars are equivalent? The same logic of those that think 1 bad cop = cops are bad.

Toyota RAV4 is a chick car. Why would a dude rent that vehicle??

A 4runner as well as a CRV, will outlast any competitor while holding more value as well.
Once upon a time. Now you have small turbo engines in both, and a CVT in the CRV. The 4 runner also has way more gears than it used to..
What you stated may well still be true, relative to other current cars.
But compared to older versions of themselves (say 10 years ago) they won't last nearly as long.

You just stated my reason for buying Toyota/Lexus. Dependability

Because most smart people drive something practical, reliable, and gets them from point a to b.

Sample size and dangerous generalization thereof leads to No Knowledge Lane.
It’s a busy street.

It's a Toyota, it's affordable, it's efficient.
Why are you such a snob? It's a great car for certain people.
My mother is retired and downsized and I bought her an AWD RAV4 for her grocery and nursery trips, which is really only place she goes. It's perfect and pretty nice on the inside.

I had to stop by the dealership to get a new key fob for my 2018 4Runner about a year ago. I asked one of the parts guys what he thought of the new Landcruiser. He said, "I'd drive that 5th Gen 4Runner until the wheels fall off."
