The ironic thing about those types of girls is they won't have the marriage their parents had because they are so hell bent on marriage and kids they usually settle for less and leave the guy who would have made their dream happen had they been patient. They usually end up divorced

Dated my wife in college, married after graduate school, kids and we live a meager existence in this world. I don't really have one that "got away".

that's exactly what happened. Everyone thought they were a weird pair when they got together, but it was a person who was ok with getting married and popping out kids which is all she ever wanted. Her obsession with her parents was really intense... even now her husband is non-existent from most pictures. All of her pictures are her, their daughter and her parents at holidays, outings and vacations... he is literally nowhere to be found. it's bizarre.

The one that got away went batshit insane and off the reservation, so feel like I dodged a major bullet there.

One of the reasons I wish social media didn't exist . I'm not strong enough not to look.

One died in a car wreck.

One is a retired astronaut.

I’m doing just fine.

That’s the thing. I look back at my exes and there’s not a single one that I’m not glad that i moved on from in retrospect. In the moment, it felt like she “got away”, but it definitely worked out for the best.

HS girl is a chubby nurse married to a dork, but seems to be super happy. was glad to see her at our 10 year reunion.

later HS/College girl that broke my heart is married to a pastor and she's a children's pastor. they seem like they're doing nice enough. she and my wife met coincidentally at a bachelorette party and hit it off. became super awkward when they figured things out. i came to pick her up at the bar and they were sitting at a table together laughing when i walked up. i stared awkwardly at the girl, she stared awkwardly at me, and my wife was confused.

i didn't burn any bridges so i don't have any ill will at exes doing well.

Let I heard she is living in SoCal and got married. That bitch is psycho to the core and her mom is to blame. I feel sorry for her husband, poor bastard.

Yet you consider her the one that got away?

I'm sure this is true for most, especially if ones that got away were HS or early college girlfriends. You change too much between 16-22. They change in accordance with the friends and SOs that aren't you, and you do as well. Of course, if you'd stuck with them there is a chance you'd be pretty happy with those life choices and wouldn't know any different.
