How, in 2024, do we not have technology to stop the barrage of spoofing/spamming calls?

shite is getting absolutely absurd. I often have to keep my phone on silent due to receiving a dozen of these calls daily, and I have to constantly clear my voice mail to avoid it staying full. Sometimes it feels like my phone is unusable.
(And, no, I did not download Adult Friend Finder, Grindr, or any other preverted app.)

The technology improvements help both sides.

This is what Trump needs to get Elon to focus on.

I’ve always said any candidate that ran on a “I will stop text and call spam” platform would be a shoe in.
But honestly the phone companies make bank from it. It’s not going away anytime o

We do. It’s an app called RoboKiller. I have it and it’s incredible

It’s just like hacking and anything else. Bad guys always find something the good guys haven’t figured out how to defend yet.
They have tech to ghost numbers and the phone companies can’t figure out how to stop that so to speak. I will say, the “spam” “risk” warnings on phone calls has come a long way

Also junk mail should be illegal.

It exists. But pols exempted themselves and their spamming sites.
You think they would give up their grifting lol

Most of the reviews seem to state that app doesn't work anymore. And it costs $130 a year?(!)

At my work, we can only block 25 numbers

I just switched from android to iOS and this is something that google does extremely well. The call blocking/spam features on the pixels are incredible

It’s pretty much what keeps the postal service in business

Just set your phone to whitelist.... not on the list you get bounced.... simple.
Phone companies still make their money but I don't get bothered.

I've been mulling this. I just went ahead and did it, but it's not convenient for work purposes, and I'll still be having to clear out my voicemail daily.

The iPhone has a feature that will silence (send straight to voicemail) any number that isn’t in your contacts - that is pretty effective

Damn. Haven’t gotten a spam call in a few years

I have a Samsung phone that is basically on life support. I need a new one, but I really, really don't want to get one. I have this one in the perfect sweet spot. I don't get any spam texts and maybe a couple calls a month. I really don't want to give that up because I have a feeling that somehow won't be the case with a new phone.

Change your voicemail to, "Hi, if this is work related or urgent, please send me a text and I'll respond ASAP."
Let your voicemail fill up, so nobody can leave any more. It's almost 2025, VM died 10 years ago.

I was paying $4.99 a month. I just checked and my membership has been discounted. Crap. Thanks for the heads up. Somehow it’s still working on my phone tho
