How hard is it to get into one of the LSU med schools?

I have no idea about this. My daughter is changing her major and wants to go all in on pre-med.
Anybody know the percentage of applicants who actually get in?

100% of the girls who frick the dean get admitted. 100% of those who get admitted and frick again graduate.

Unless she currently has a 3.98-4.0, and is willing to retake a bunch of classes to fit into the science major, don't bother.

Easier to get into Shreveport than New Orleans. Shreveport is still hard though.

Just walk in. They usually don't lock the door during the day.

Depends on the color of her skin, and no I'm not joking.

I have a friend who hasn't gotten in to either Nola or Shreveport. He had great grades, spent a summer on a medical mission trip in Africa, and average MCAT score. He was actively involved on campus (greek, SGA) but never joined the professional pre-medical fraternity. That was a big factor IIRC
I started off Biology/Pre-Med and thankfully switched. I doubt I would have gotten in with a 3.2. She can make it through if she's determined.

At least she'll have the backup option of PA school.

She doesn't need to change majors to get in, in fact it may help to have a different major than any of the biological sciences. I had many in my class that were not pre-med majors. She will just need to take the required classes, have a high GPA, and do well on the MCAT.

It's only getting harder now that they are accepting OOS students for a portion of the class. Higher MCAT averages and higher GPAs.

Probably harder statistically speaking. Over 1000 applicants in Shreveport last year for 38 spots I believe.

Per the linked website, 92.3% of the 193 incoming students are from LA. Average GPA of 3.78 and MCAT score of 30. No breakdown on what color your skin should be...
I know a really smart kid (from LA) who was wait listed when he first applied. He had good grades from a good school and I believe he scored well on his MCAT. He ended up going to Tulane for a year and completed a Masters program (Pharmacology, I think) and re-applied. Was Accepted at LSU-Shreveport, has since graduated and is currently in a premier surgery residency.
