A simple matter between two individuals that shouldn't be complicated and for all practical purposes could be solved by some simple paperwork?
You bet your arse that lawyers have found an underhanded way to make money off of it, get your wallet out.

Youre a tard. It's not necessarily expensive. Go to your trusted priest. He'll help you. It's a tedious process but it'll get done. The Bishop has to sign off on it. Not hard or expensive. But takes time and effort on your end to make nice with your priest and explain your case. Usually helps if you're planning to remarry in Catholic Church. That will expedite process. Good luck. Marriage is stupid.

It depends, you likely are getting some BS answers here but I have investigated it - speaking with the chair of the tribunal for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. THat is the three member panel who rule of certificates of annulment locally.
First, the Catholic church approaches all cases on annulment from the standpoint that the marriage is valid unless proven otherwise. Now the question is what makes a marriage invalid.
There are four criteria:
(1) the spouses are free to marry; (2) they freely exchange their consent; (3) in consenting to marry, they have the intention to marry for life, to be faithful to one another and be open to children; and (4) their consent is given in the presence of two witnesses and before a properly authorized Church minister.
Obviously those are fairly subjective and the validity of your marriage is a question only you (and your wife) can answer.
The process can be found on your parish website usually.

This is good. And if she'll sign document with her affirming the marriage sucked and lack of sex and not living together and all that shite.
Do not tell priest the new future ex wife is not Catholic. Btw it'll help if she begins RCIA now. Gets confirmed/first communion at Easter. Then annulment. Then marriage in church. That is best path.

Honestly, it's the only thing left that we share. After years of soul searching, im ready to start a new life with someone else in a manner more than just dating. I really want a family. It doesn't matter if I get re-married in a church or not, I want to start over with a clean slate both spiritually and legally.

Word. It's just a better case for approval if new bitch will become Catholic and you sponsor her. I did it for same reasons(to have her first one anulled and ours recognized by church) plus I wanted to join my kids at first communions. Despite all my bs here i'ma Catholic boy!

from personal observation its a snap if your family is friends with the bishop. Otherwise probably not so much.

Seriously, what farce is it that you have to give money to an organization in order to be granted a certain status within said organization?
