For the Fire I’d just wait until actual tryouts, this is just going to be a mid-season walk on while my son’s teammates are playing school ball.

Despite the haters on here, if your kid has ability, as a parent, its your responsibility to put them in the best position to succeed. If driving 80 miles is what you believe will do that, and you are able to do so, then do it.

There is no money in college soccer scholarships anyway unless he is a top player in the state. And if that’s the case I’d just move him to an MLS academy.

That’s to much.. most for me would be around 30 miles and that’s pushing it.. my son has played baseball with kids that had to drive 1-2 hours for practice and it wears on the family

How good is your kid at soccer? I know in the case of Clint Dempsey, his parents used to drive from Nagodoches to Dallas 3-4 times a week which I thought was insane.....of course Dempsey is now worth millions

He’s easily a top player in the state, but I don’t want him playing soccer in college. If he makes a regional squad then OK, but he isn’t going to sone community college to play soccer.

He wants to kick footballs. He does it really, really well...it’s just a waiting game now.

Gaston, I know very little about you. But one thing I notice, is almost every thread you start revolves around your kids and sports. May not be the case, but you sure do come across as one of those parents obsessed with your child and sports. And like doing it so everyone knows that you have a son that's an athlete.

We get it. Start some threads about cars or chicks or something. You're coming off as one of "those" parents.

I can’t drive to Dallas, or Atlanta, or Houston...so he’s by nurture, not good enough.

this thread might get away from its point, but I find it interesting that soccer is the only team sport where we tell people that school ball sucks

You should pick up your life and move. I am sure little Brockton is going to make it to MLB one day, even if he is 5 now

Not quite the answer to the question asked but I used to have to drive an hour and a half to ride my show horse in college.

It was worth it, though. No good trainers in my area.

That is different - there aren't very many good trainers around.

It was either this or my modified cork iPhone skin I have on my Xs. I’m struggling with this concept more though, the iPhone back is awesome and I DGAF what the OT thinks of my style anyway.

Our club shuts down for school ball. I really think that’s how they’re trying to win people over to soccer.

That said, my son’ll play football too, because it’s the shite in our little town on Friday nights. He’s been to every home game for years.
