I am old school Republican from before you were born, but nice try. In my youth the Republicans were about strong diplomacy via a strong defense and extremely fiscally conservative coming out of the era between the World Wars. Neither of the basic planks seem to apply to the Fake MAGA folks (Real MAGA was Ronnie) that seem more occupied with dividing America than uniting it.

Not true, it started with Ronnie going into debt to offset the Malaise Speech Carter (D) spoke about (IKE (R) did the same in the Military - Industrial Speech). It cost Bush Sr his second term and allowed Clinton in. BOTH sides are to blame for not adequately addressing an ever increasing debt that went from Ronnie's first to DJT's second (with the exception of 1 year of Clinton where the D & R worked together that neither side liked) and we had 1 year of surplus from 1980 to 2026.
