Knock back a cup of coffee, then make a container of stout Bloody Mary's and head down at sunrise. Around 10am after the wife & kids have pissed around all morning they'll eventually haul all the beach shite down like pack mules and you'll already be passed out under the umbrella. Then "go up & make sandwiches" around lunch time - take a power nap and cool off, pack a beer cooler and head back down to the beach.

Tents started going up at daylight.

It's not uncommon for me to have my first cup of coffee on the beach after I've put out chairs and umbrellas.

I’m guessing it’s an Alabama beach thing, but having to put your tent up and then take it down every single day while there sucks arse. Not sure when they changed this instead of being able to leave it up over night. Also this year in Orange Beach they wouldn’t let us set up our tent near the actual shore. We had to stay behind flag poles that were set up halfway from your beach house to the water.

Regardless of when you set up, someone will come in much later and set up right on top of you, in front of you, etc. This is why we go to Fort Pickens. Beach isn't as pretty, but you can have a mile of beach all to yourself.

I mark off with spray paint my section at the beginning of the week like I do for Endymion.

I rent beach houses only nowadays. Have no desire to be around the high rises and those that occupy them. Fort Morgan beach house w private 100’ of frontage FTW

Ditto. But there was one occasion when a large group of neighbors set up their tent right in front of the entry/exit of our private pier/walkway. The women in our group got each other worked up over it as if they were going to go confront the neighbors to express their outrage. It was probably just a damsel in distress play.

I figured if they had a problem with it, they should resolve it. My margarita wasn’t going to drink itself, nor would I enjoy it as much if I got involved.

This is just flat out the way to go now. Is it expensive and probably overpriced? Yep. But god damn is it fricking convenient! Not owning, storing, hauling it down, and lugging in and out each day all of the tents, chairs and other shite and just bringing my cooler to already set up and reserved chairs and umbrellas is just worth it to me nowadays.

Problem is many people like myself prefer to hit the beach a mid afternoon and stay until sunset. Chair rental people pack up at 5-6pm.

Our place is at the end of the beach, so it's less of a problem there than others, but we do have someone go and plop a few chairs in between the water and our room-associated chairs around 7am to avoid having people setup in front of us.

My oldest is 14 and he handled the duties this year, which was pretty awesome.

The beach houses are no more than Condos. Can usually get Gulf Front 3/4 br 2/3 bath for under 4K a week in prime time and under 2K in Oct- November. It’s all in what you want. I like the quiet beach days everyday I’m there.

I buy a bunch of kids toys and scatter them all round my spot to keep people away. I don't have kids.

The beach at Morgantown was so crowded last week that I only went down about 7:30 p.m. we usually have groups 50-75' apart, but this week there were people tying up their private tents to the commercial rental tents of their neighbors. i've never seen anything like it.
