Why did you marry into such a trash family?

it was only mother in law who was a jerk. She constantly talked about other people and adored Edwin Edwards. Father in law did nothing but man up. When we got divorced, he and I had a verbal face to face then put in behind us then and were friendly whenever we crossed paths.
Eldest brother in law had always been a dick and likely still is. He had to call his mother ever single day of their lives.
Two other brother in laws took after then dad.

Na. I honestly feel bad for her. Which isn't something I'd typically say for a cheating spouse.
She's just... Pathetic.

Man, I was with you until this part:
After that you just sound like a spoiled little brat and I’m not sure if I should completely believe your take on things. You probably lose your shite when things don’t go exactly your way and will probably say about anything to get people to agree with you.

My parents are amazing, I can tell them anything constructive I want and they’d apologize and promise to fix it. I don’t know how to handle this. Tempted to say frick it let’s move back to Alabama and be next to my parents.

TLDR, CSB....in laws suck arse. Anybody deal with bum asses like this freaking out about petty shite?
Boy I could write a book on this subject but I wont. Just keep your distance and do the minimum to keep the wife happy. And by the way, your story is interesting but I am sure I could top you on it so you are not alone!

quote:fools gold right there. You shouldn’t live near your in laws, much less have them raising your kids. You’ve put yourself in a position of weakness and feel trapped because you lack the confidence to break out on your own.
Her mom keeps our son for three days a week to help us avoid paying out the arse for daycare

My father in law is the fricking man
My son said he wanted to go fishing with his paw paw, so he went and bought a boat

I like my in laws. They live 400 miles from us though so I only see them about 3 times per year.
My FIL is definitely a baw and he had all girls so I'm the son he never had. He has one grandson but he's a gay hipster

I tried for years to get along with my husband's dysfunctional, alcoholic, and abusive family. I steer clear of them now. My life is way better.
Do yourself and your kid a big favor. Move away far away. They will never change and do not see how sick they are. In fact, they believe you are the one with the problem. Trust me, 32 years in, and wish I'd never married in to this craziness.
I moved away in 2003- my life changed overnight. The peace was so very nice. Unfortunately, my husband begged to come back because his parents are getting older. We moved back In 2014 when they were 85. They are both still kicking, and just as bad as ever. So- learn from me, don't give in to the guilt, and don't ever move back if you leave.
Good luck.

Trust me it could be much worse.
Your in-laws could all be libs from Minnesota like mine.

We cope by hanging out with our friends and avoiding the dysfunctional parents on both sides.
