Now would be the best time to buy one. Many of those businesses are hurting.

Slow afternoon. Ideal for a little mental exercise and creative writing.

Sort of like thinking how could you get into Indy racing, Or rocket ship construction.

Isn't that workplace discrimination?

And ironically, this is actually discrimination against women because they are over 90,% of staff.

You won’t be able to start one because of the people who have clubs killing those who try to open new clubs who are not in the current mafia connections group.

I was told a strip club was all the hassle of running a bar, with the added hassle of dealing with crazy employees, law enforcement, city/county commissions, state regulators, and perverts.

ETA: A great way to launder money though.

In most places (city, suburban, rural) with zoning its impossible to start a new strip club. Most are only "allowed" in industrial-zoned districts and have crazy distance requirements from other uses such as churches, schools, and even residential homes. Even if you somehow meet the distance and location requirement, you probably still need conditional approval from the local elected council.

A lawyer friend of mine once told me he considered taking a case representing a strip club owner who wanted to relocate his club, but couldn't get permits. He didn't take the case but said he was 100% sure the local rules violated federal law and supreme court precedence. Said he could win but it would take 3-4 years and he would need to get it in federal court.

Thank you.

I knew it would be more complicated than starting a restaurant. But you gave really good insight.

The question now is if I can get a business loan and how much everything you mentioned will cost. Not including hiring staff.

1. Go back in time when there was a snowballs chance in hell opportunity to get a permit.
2. Buy an existing Strip club with a permit.
Doubtful you will get a new permit, even if you where financially able to. It must be a good business. They charge the girls for stage time and booth time. They charge the patrons cover and booth time. They sell shite at sky high prices.

Your chances of getting a loan in the traditional sense are near zero.

You've got to have standards. Otherwise you end up with a hole in wall club making no money.

Why? I assume discrimination against adult Businesses.

I mean people start businesses everyday in this country. If I'm willing to accept the risk then I should be able to try.

Usually:

In the world of legal zoning terms, all adult-related businesses fall under the world of “conditional use”.

There is no “Strip Club” Zoning area to ask for.

In layman terms this means a prospective location has to already have an appropriate zoning classification (already codified, like located in “Light Industrial” or in “Entertainment”, etc.) that MAY have adult-related businesses allowed to be located in them.

Then the appellate must specify to the Zoning Board exactly what adult activity(s) they want to pursue there.

The Zoning Board will then let the appellate know if the proposed activity is allowed and, if so, set up a hearing date to review the application.

Usually this is where the shite then hits the fan and if there is a review held, the request for the Strip Club Conditional Use permit is usually denied by the Zoning Board.

Appeals to further up Boards are usually pointless.

Or so I’ve been told...

Thank you. Although it makes me wonder how these people mention their occupations on a resume.

Years ago we owned a few restaurants, and in the beginning of hiring staff my wife asked me about an application that had (entertainer) on it as some past experience. She asked what it was and wondered if she was an actress. These were on-line applications so she had no idea what the person looked like. She worked for us for about a year during the day and stripped at night in NOLA. Nice girl.
