I always wondered how the licensing for such establishments is done. I mean do they just buy the land and just build the club anywhere or do they have to follow guidelines of the city they are in?

Who does the screening for if the women are attractive enough?

They have to meet zoning requirements per city, county/parish, or state, if allowed and apply for all applicable licenses.

Are you really not sure if strip clubs have to follow zoning laws?

I don’t know but I had a friend that managed one of the higher end strip clubs in Atlanta and he told me it was a nightmare of a job.

Start off by watching a few pole dancing tutorials on YouTube and then try stripping for your friends to see if they like it.

Thank you. Although it makes me wonder how these people mention their occupations on a resume.

A bunch of neurotic naked broads on drugs sounds like a workforce from hell.

Even with all the free blowers.

They are weird around here too. Years ago, you'd drive into Ascension Parish and there were 5-6 titty bars right past the parish line. Or so I've been told.

Think of it as part time, I doubt many have resumes or put it on there. The top dancers more than likely make porn and consider themselves entertainers.

Opening a Strip club is a complicated thing. I checked with a business associate and learned the following:

If you want to set up out in the sticks (outside city limits or in an unincorporated area), you still need to ask the County and State what regulations and permits apply. Same thing, with sometimes nearly impossible regulations to comply with inside city limits and in some uppity counties. Be prepared to spread some green-backed incentives with any who issue licenses or set operation rules.

Find yourself a flat topped building (maybe 1500-2200 square feet, plus adequate support areas (locker room, prep area, two or three restrooms, office area, storage) and do extensive remodeling of the physical plant, as in paint the walls black, put in some spotlights, build a ramp, coming off a dressing room, put in a larger area at end of the ramp for show dancing, Make certain the ramp is splinter free, strong enough to support one or more chrome or brass poles, and wide enough so that the girls don't fall off. Buy enough stools to line the ramp, for "close up fans", buy enough tables to populate the building, which should be big enough for that number of tables to be greater than 20. Typically, it is nice to provide chairs that will support two bodies, in case you will want to provide the "lap dancing" option to customers (and you will).

Build a bar on one side and stock with Champagne cooler and at least one draft beer dispenser. If you want an uppity place, provide three or four draft beer options and maybe a cola option. Have a special dispenser for near beer for consumption by the dancer ladies who are on the wagon, or want to be. Stock bar with tiny glasses for beer.

Build a membership counter with bouncer stool just inside the door. Also an office for the owner/manager. The office should have a substantial security door, preferably with a bullet proof design.

Air conditioning is your friend. Most of your customers will be "Sweaty guys". They are always more comfortable and willing to stay longer if you have AC.

If you are trying to be stylish, go for the Sofa options and VIP areas. Be sure to wire VIP areas with closed circuit video recording capability. One never knows when someone might need to be taped for revenue enhancing opportunities.

If you locate close to a major city, truck stop, military base, casino, chemical, or tire plant, Consider offering a lunch buffet as it gets the business day going earlier. Having a motel with lax booking rules, located close by is a sometimes good thing also. Having a gift shop with t-shirts is a waste of money making floorspace in your business.

I understand Craig's list is as good a place as any to run employment ads. Many state and local regulators will object to your hiring ladies with past brushes with the law that resulted in prison time, so keep that in mind when hiring workers.

One final thing - well before starting, decide what relationship you are willing to endure with organized crime and the drug business, as you will be offered non monetary incentives to take on partners right away.

My sincere belief is all I have shared is true. Like I said at the first, it is complicated. Good luck. Will you give a Tigerdroppings discount?

I've come to learn that it is more of a willing over qualifications type thing.
