Is the kid playing all that because he wants to or daddy wants him to? I can't imagine spending every free moment I have devoted to sports, I'd encourage him to diversify his interests and have free time to unwind from life.
And everyone can claim if the grades slip no ball, but when push comes to shove will you actually pull him out?

Is he playing for Groton or Andover? It's high school in Louisiana. It's not rocket science. Tell him he needs to make the grades or he doesn't play. Don't try to micromanage study times for him. Teach him to manage that on his own.

Is your kid going to be in the majors? If not, screw the BS teams and focus on grades, and getting into college. Unless of course he's not smart. Then focus on ball, getting a college scholarship, and him having to network the rest of his life as the guy who played college ball.

Don't let these jokers fool you with their negativity. Fact is they are jealous or think you are full of shite. I for one believe you, after all, who would make up a story like this? Regardless, you should be proud. Congrats on the sex.

You do realize your kid isn't going to be Tom Brady baw?

I can't believe the school or high school athletic asssociation would let him do all 3.
At my HS, Freshmen were part of the JV team. The JV season is not as long as Varsity so you were on the JV team until that season was over and then moved up to Varsity for the remainder of the Varsity season.

Answer: He can study on Friday nights cause he'll be riding the pine.

Ive never heard of Freshman and JV football games, only High School (9-12) and Jr. High (6-9, depending on the school).

Games don't really take up much more time than practice would.
Away games surely would

3 games a week. *sigh*... my immediate thought is how does a kid handle this load and academics?
This shouldn't be a "handle this load and academics" question.
He should handle academics and then focus on sports.
High school sports are about as important as pee wee sports.

Wait is this football?
No way would I let my kid play 3 football games a week. I'd tell the coach he's either starting for JV or starting for Freshman not both. Given the research, I'd be extremely concerned. I gave my earlier advice thinking it was baseball. 3 games a week is insane. Hell, starting and playing meaningful snaps two games a week is insane.

Let the kid do normal practice like all the other kids and play on a single team. No reason for him to be dressing out and chilling on the sideline for 3 games a week. That sounda as retarded as OweO. If he can't find time to do homework and make the grades, he was fubar'd from the jump.

Baseball...sigh
Anyway, my son has been doing basketball this way since he was a freshman.
They are required to report to class after school on game days to finish homework etc, with teachers available to them if needed.
No one plays games right after school. There's always time between the end of the school day and the time they need to get ready to play or leave to play.
