It doesn't make any financial sense but I'm browsing the used car sites everyday. My DD is perfectly reliable too.

When I think of the louisiana insurance rates

I don’t resist it. I would feel naked if I didn’t have a fun car.

Car? Or something more specific. Truck, Jeep, early model Camaro, then yes. Just another used car? No, I got a list of repairs and maintenance for the ones we have already.

You 12 baw? Sounds very childish.

Commiserate with the OT poster Napoleon. He complains about how much he's paying for insurance but has like 6 cars for himself.

This topic hits hard. Im considering a soft top Jeep purchase to start the summer with. Having an open top in Tampa just seems like something I need for the summer.

I have a truck, a car that I mostly use for work, a classic car, and my wife has an SUV.
Of course, I don't live in LA and pay those insurance premiums
I've owned at least two vehicles, at one time, most of my driving life, even when I was single.
It makes no financial sense to have a "fun car," also takes up a lot of space but it's my hobby and I don't hunt/fish so.

Or you are too poor to barely afford one with the arse raping you pay just for one.
I just realized for the beater I am driving I am paying close to 2,000 a year for a car that was only worth 7,000 when bought used in 2020.

Why fight it? I have a second (and third) car. It's great when one goes in the shop for some reason. My DD is an old Tundra, but I keep an old Lexus around just in case one of our cars goes down. 2002 Lexus GS300 with 117K that I paid $5K for a few years ago. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it from DFW to Miami to Seattle to San Diego to NYC, then back to DFW. In fact, I have 3 cars, not including my wife's....a DD, a family traveling vehicle, and a spare. If you want a spare, get it.

Second car?
I have a problem then.
I have a daily driver, two classic vehicles, and an SUV for longer trips.
Then, each of my family has their own vehicle.
I like extra cars.

Strange.
Why? They're all old cars that serve a specific purpose. Financially speaking, I probably have less tied up in all 3 than most OT baws have tied up in their primaries.

Do it! I bought an old TJ and I probably drive it more than my truck.

All I have to do is look at my bank account (ot poor) and it definitely kills any second vehicle urges.

Because you only live once sir.
I've spent lots extra on vehicles. Just bought a newer Rubicon w low miles. Will I get rid of my 05 Rubicon w 190K miles? Phuck no...it's the beater woods vehicle now. And people low balling me would piss me off.
My only regret is not spending more on higher end sports cars. But I still have time.
