I work probably 5 hours a day. Rest is spent driving and playing on my phone. Still got to stretch it to 3:30 so I can get 9 hrs. Gotta get that overtime

I mean, everyone is miserable where I work. Month ends are extremely stressful. Our clients are stressful. That’s why they come to us because we as a firm are willing to put up with it. We are literally dependent of everyone else to do their job and if another group doesn’t do something, we’re fricked. Very complicated material and very very detail oriented.

I worked til 10:PM multiple nights last week. Every day I wonder why I haven’t quit yet.

My job can be super stressful, but not all the time. I do project management for a small non profit, but we have a product that generates 10M in revenue a year, so my project basically pays for the entire company, and we have a lot of competition, so we have to keep innovating.

My frustration is that our CEO hires a bunch of his buddies to be upper management, and none of them can do anything of value.

It’s either easy, or very demanding depending on the day / time period.

It’s one of those jobs that a slightly above average intelligence person can do 70% of the time, but what we actually get paid for is that other 30% of the time that requires true intellectual horsepower and work ethic.

I like my company. It’s a Fortune 500 company but it’s actually pretty small (under 20k employees) and most of the public doesn’t know about them. But I had the chance to meet with the CEO and a few other C Suite and thought that was great. I just hate my job and it severely impacts my lifestyle and now I’m having to go see a psychiatrist. I have no clue what to do or how to even get another job.

PS. frick our healthcare system is shitty. I go to doctor because issues and the first thing is “let’s medicate you”. Then I call psychiatrist office and the first thing was like “we will get you on meds before you ever see the doctor.” Like how can that be the initial response without even a doctor seeing someone.

I feel for you man. This is a shitty position in life to be in and it can feel so hopeless. I was here for way too long. Just keep grinding and trying new things/potential new interests.

Why are you going to a psych? Psychs are all about medicine. Sounds like you need a CBT therapist.

Get a Masters Degree and start applying for a fed job if you’re under age 37.

Money (and total compensation) is better and the work is more humane.

It goes from one end to the other, some days are 12-14 hours of coding while others I am done before Noon which usually happen on Fridays.

CBT

I couldn’t afford he program they wanted to put me on. It was like $300 a month out of pocket till I hit my deductible. So when I told them it was out of pocket, they told me to see a psych. I talked with the coordinator today and told him I’m mainly interested in assesments. The internalize already put me on medicine though anyway. I’ll try it for awhile.

I know I have serious sleep issues too that are effecting this and I have other issues as well. That’s why I want to see a medical doctor as well who can help make sense of me.

I’m in year 3 of owning an insurance agency.
Used to pray for phones to ring; I now pray for the opposite. Work 10 hrs/day, 5 days/Wk. Weekends as well. Toughest part of the job is finding decent agents. I fire quick though, and have been through half a dozen this year.
Plan on grinding for another 3 years, then hopefully it’ll run itself.

Why corrections? Why not uniform patrol?

My schedule is the only good thing about it. 9-5 M-F. Uniform patrol all want me to start graveyard shift and working the worst possible schedule. I have 2 young children so I don’t really want to do that. Police in Louisiana are also paid very very low
