I’ve been lucky as far as broken bones go. I’ve had four concussions though playing sports. Got knocked the frick out once.
I played a full set of downs that I don't remember in high school. It didn't look like anything was off in the film the next day. Definitely concussions in practice but back in those days you just shrugged it off for the next rep in a drill. The only time knocked out was falling off of a ladder onto to driveway from 10 feet up. Popped a hammy a week later turning around in the kitchen after my bruised hip had recovered. My memory is not what it was at 18 but still better than most.

Destroyed my left ankle early in my junior year of high school back in 1988. Ripped every ligament and tendon. Ankle was the size of a grapefruit. I had to take my shoes off in class, and my teachers let me prop it up in a hair in order to keep the swelling down. This lasted the whole year. However, I never missed a game. It knocked by forty time down from a 4.8 at the beginning of the year to a 5.3 at the end. It made me a better safety because I knew I couldn't keep up and had to take better angles. I had 2 picks my sophomore year, but none my junior year. When my ankle healed(never fully) my speed came back my senior year which allowed me to get 6 interceptions, because my angles on balls were so much better. My left ankle isn't really an ankle. It has a big hole in it, and I can bend my foot all the way to the ground without it hurting, because I basically don't have any ankle support. It turns easy but doesn't hurt, because there is nothing to tear just bone on bone. Doctors told me it'd always give me trouble, but I'm 50 now, run everyday, and it doesn't hurt any.

Dislocated my shoulder during a football game my senior year, turned in to a subluxation, which means in plain English that it frequently dislocated again after that. Was advised to have surgery after the season, but thought I was bullet proof and never did. It hurts every goddamn day now.
That happened to a friend and teammate our Junior year. He refused surgery (early 70's) because he was a wide receiver. He would constantly dislocated it that summer water skiing, then just reaching over with his right arm out. He had surgery after our senior season, when he was a starter at CB and WR, and was limited with reaching up with his right arm.

Trimalleolar fracture to left ankle/leg/foot overseas in '09. My foot was literally facing the opposite direction. Thankfully sans a little arthritis, all has been good

Was chopping a sweet potato for dinner and right when i went to make my first cut, it rolled and the knife went through my thumb.
I looked down expecting to see most of it missing but it *only* sliced off everything outside of my thumbnail and above the knuckle.
For a minute there, I could see the capillaries...and then the blood started coming out.
The ER put this mesh stuff against the exposed flesh to stop the bleeding and bandaged it all up. 2 months later, everything had grown back.

Same here. Got sacked by two huge DL one of which was a Georgia recruit. My head bounced off the turf like a basketball. The next three plays I don't remember. Everyone said I called the play right in the huddle, but I get to the line and after the snap I just stood there and got blasted. Did that for two plays, and on the third we punt. I was the personal protector and hit a dude head on which knocked me back to memory. On film I watched from the sack until that hit on the punt and remembered none of it. Of course, the whole team laughed during film.

chatterbait hung in a tree
popped the rod to get it out and it flew back at me and hit me in the eye
I was blind in that eye for a week and I've slowly regained some sight back in the eye, but its still very blurry 3 years later
I'm also guaranteed to have to have cataract surgery in the future

Got smacked directly in the eyeball by a bottle rocket. Still can't see out my left eye.
Also cut the tip of my index finger off sitting on top of a gangbox.

Growth plate in my hip broke. Got a screw in it. Went from an annoyance to can barely walk after riding all those damned horses. Then it broke when I fell off the four wheeler in the yard picking up limbs. At that point, it was toast. Basically dragging a loose leg around.
I have a scar from a horse bite. Not a fly. A horse. Stupid pregnant thing ran up and bit me, pulled me up, while I was trying to feed it.
Random barbed wire cut scars on my hand. Had some cows and horses step on me.
So, not too bad.

Rolled my car down a steep embankment doing at least 80. Broke my arm, badly concussed, and got a fair number of glass shards stuck in my face that somehow miraculously didn't turn my eyes to jelly

If you posted on this thread that your worst injury was a high school sport, consider yourself blessed.
Always felt that way even with my multiple concussions, dislocated shoulders, knee injuries, dislocated toe issues, etc. Definitely validated that belief reading this thread.
My worst injury was playing flag football. I was destroying this team, 4-6" taller than anyone on their team so we just Mossed them when we were close to end zone. Go over the middle towards the end of the game, and their safety closes down full speed and basically spears me. Everything locked up in upper back and couldn't turn my chin to my shoulders. After several therapy sessions, Ortho orders MRI and discovers I have 2 herniated discs in neck, and 1 herniated disc in thoracic spine.

Fell this past July, broke 3 vertebrae in my neck, still in long painful recovery.

Slipped on a wet soccer field and compound fractured my elbow. My initial thought was that my arm was stuck in the ground. Most painful thing in my life. Needed surgery from a world renowned surgeon at Wash U in St Louis

Junior year of High School, baseball. Taking batting practice, spikes dug into the ground and completely dislocated my right knee. Had to have a patella realignment, which was awful. Back then (1988) it required 3 nights in the hospital. Re-hab completely sucked!!

How Did You Get Your Worst Injury?
Been lucky. Despite all the contact sports growing up it was mostly just sprained ankles and such.
Worst was having my front teeth knocked out a few days before high school graduation while at American Legion baseball practice. Taking BP and the guy on the mound was a guy I'd played with since we were little and he'd graduated the year before and played in college but was young enough to have one more year. He decided to throw game stuff and I started fricking around and flicking my bat out while getting a few bunts down before swinging away.
Laid one or two down then he threw a hard slider and I flicked my bat out and caught it just right and it came right back into my face. Immediately spit out part of one tooth and my lips began to swell. Turn out I'd only cracked one in half diagonally but broke the other up into the roots. Ended up losing my four front teeth to do the reconstruction and spent the entire summer with a missing tooth in front and some silly arse one tooth retainer thing I could clip in place to sort of hide it.

Did go to my graduation with a wad of dental wax jammed into my front teeth to at least fill in the gap because the retainer wasn't even done yet.

Drinking 40's of Steel Reserve. Smashed a bottle straight down and the glass shattered in my hand destroying the nerves and tendons in two fingers. This was about 15 years ago and still dont have feeling in part of my middle finger.
