Pentagon Dormitory at LSU fall of 1982. No A/C but we did have a ceiling fan.

I say the same fricking thing every time we visit Colorado.
I NEVER liked our weather as a little kid running the LSU lakes nor do I now as a fat old man sweating profusely just walking .8 mile from Alex Box to Tiger Stadium last Saturday.

Maybe it’s just my pasty white complexion, but shade does a lot for me.
I absolutely hate being in direct sunlight.

I'm sitting in my shop right now with a 36 inch fan keeping my balls perfectly dry.

A 36” fan wouldn’t even cool one of my balls. What’s it like having such a small setup?

My mom bought a large house in the VA mountains that didn’t have ac. We were horrified, but I’ll tell you those walls kept it cool in the summer.

My grandparents turned off the AC at night when we stayed at their place in the country.

It was too hot to sleep a lot of times, but what else made it tough was the silence in the house without the occasional hum of a fan or AC unit.

The ringing in your ears after hours of prolonged silence would become almost painful.

Ever see a bunch of Mexican dudes, working outside, roofing, landscaping, etc? Notice they wear long sleeves in August and July?

I was stationed in Gitmo back in the 90's. Endless summer with tons of humidity. Came home to Alabama during a heat wave during August. Everyone bitching about how hot it was. I didn't even notice.

Place I lived in college for 4 years had no AC - we did it by opening windows and running fans - we survived.

What are they saying is wrong?

$2K worth of stuff is wrong. Capacitor, fan motor, etc, etc. And, it’s a 1996 unit.

So, I got 4 options.

1. 2 Stage for $19,500 cash or $275/month for ten years
2. Variable for $21,500 cash or $297/month for ten years
3. Modulating for $25,500 or $342/month for ten years
4. Super Modulating for $26,700 or $356/month for ten years.

This was round one. Second opinion comes by tomorrow for lunch.

Leaning towards the lease number because I anticipate selling the house in the next two years. Thoughts?

I spent a summer session at Auburn in a house with no AC. We all had fans and adapted. We also stayed gone a lot.

Have a cousin that moved from BR to Montana to work as a ranch hand. He had a line that cracks me up:

“Up here in Montana shade works unlike at home.”

And now you know why people lived in Ohio or Minnesota...

Oklahoma is terrible.. We get the humidity, but also get that Baking Sun Arizona style from Stationary Highs that just sit there day after day...

Facts about a hot shower being a bad thing. Idk what it is that makes you start sweating extra. But you gotta take a cold shower or at least finish ur shower cold if u got no ac
You don’t understand why taking a hot shower when you have no a/c makes you sweat more?

A better question is how did people live in LSU dorms without AC into the 2000s?

West laville 96-97 checking in

A couple weeks into the 1st semester lsu started a roof replacement. They would chunk the old roof off and onto the ground. They didn’t tell us about any of it. .

Hot as frick cause it’s august and we don’t have ac. Windows open, come back from class and about 3 inches of dirt, grime, asbestos or whatever the old roof was made out of was covering the entire dorm room. Welcome to lsu
