How did Hitler convince millions of people to commit genocide?

Watching Woman in Golf and it got me thinking about this.
How in the hell were so many people willing to help/encourage/look the other way while millions were mass murdered for no reason?

He just had the uncanny ability to influence people, and it helped that those people happened to be living in a post-WWI Germany.

After WWI, he used the Jews as a scapegoat to blame the problems of Germany on. After a few years of that, its was a slow transition from vandalism to killings. That combined with fear and a lot of propaganda and a lack of information of the regular people of Germany.

I'm pretty sure he didn't convince millions to commit genocide. He convinced his people to kill millions, though.

He convinced people that other people were not people but animals . Once he did that it was easy.

Germany was in tatters post ww1. He was very charismatic and was able to gain the trust of the german people. He brought back the nations pride behind the third reich. People bought into it and rebuilt Germany as hitler had envisioned. Germany became more industrialized and they had a scapegoat with the Jews. Pretty much without scientists like Einstein and a few great leaders and some great soldiers in some big battles the allies were likely fricked

Well if you lived in a time/place where if you voiced an opinion that opposed Hitler you had the Gestapo knocking on your door and then you and your family were possibly tortured or sent to the camps or worse what do you think most people would do?
