re: How dated will this housing trend be in a few years?

hate stucco too but at least it's better than painted brick or stones.
Completely disagree. Stucco immediately makes a nice house look cheap to me.
I don’t know what it is about the material but I cannot stand it.

Buyers like white, when it is new and clean. Age that a few years, and the bottom half will be discolored from splash off the roof. I think the trend to paint brick on older homes will last. Many had ugly orangey brick that few buyers want. It does improve the look of an outdated ranch house.

We opted for light grey siding, grayish blue stone knee wall, black shutters, white trim.
That actually sounds nice if the stone looks good. Definitely not the type of painted white brick house that I think will look dated very soon.

My wife insists on the pendants though.
I like the pendants but most people are doing 4" cans everywhere and very few actual hanging lights. Just depends on ceiling height

That's where it belongs. It's weird to see it on new houses though IMO.

that sink not square with the window and overhead lamp
and partially under the upper cabinet? that's some head injuries waiting to happen.

Real stucco cracks and shows its age. It can be patched and painted without much of a hassle. Not wild about the way it looks, but I don't hate it.
There is an insulated styrofoam based material that I think was on every house built in Louisiana between 2005 and 2015. It's designed to look like stucco, but it just doesn't. That looks horrible in a very wet climate like Louisiana, and pressure washing can wreck it.

I hope not too dated.
My house is the white painted brick, but with a shade of blue/gray siding, nothing black.
And my kitchen is white with the white quartz countertops.
I don't plan to move again, as I absolutely HATE packing and moving. But hopefully, if it becomes too dated looking, I can always upgrade/renovate.

Yea that's the bastardized version I was referring to. Real stucco when done correctly can look decent.

That is unless you have the ugly orange or yellow brick from the 70s.

The cabinets can be re-painted and the fixtures/hardware can be changed out. The rest of this look is fairly resistant from being outdated.
Those gold fixtures though... ugly.

Yes! Where is the color!? I miss the 90s floral wallpaper. Not joking

That's is almost exactly my home.

This maybe what I have a problem with

We updated our house when we bought it last year. We went with light grey cabinets and a more muted brushed gold hardware. It looks good, but like mentioned it can be swapped out ay any point.

That’s literally what my wife picked out

Not only is that sink not lined up with the window, but the left side of it looks like it's not fully clear of the cabinet above it. That would drive me insane.

Yeah I know what you are talking about. It's on my in-laws house. I think that stuff retains moisture and potentially causing mold and termite vulnerability. I wouldn't put it on any surface that wasn't under a roof (like an exterior wall facing a porch).
I don't like those neighborhoods where the builder uses the exact same brick on every home, but there has to be a better way to set them apart other than stucco or white paint.

I would rather have 6 inch exterior walls and quality windows than the right color paint. If I was building today, I would look really hard at solar everything.
