How dated will this housing trend be in a few years?

Painted white brick and black everything else

Then the kitchen is all white with white quartz, a blue island, "farmhouse" sink, and gold fixtures

I see this everywhere and it feels so devoid of any character or charm

It’s better than the trend of homes that had different types of brown stones everywhere on the facade. It can be repainted easily…I don’t know what those people with the stone houses are going to do.

Dunno about when it’s going to be outdated, but that sink not square with the window and overhead lamp would drive me crazy every time I stepped into the kitchen.

ETA: Now you done changed the picture

These flippers are all buying 60s-70s houses, painting the exterior brick white and doing the "upgrades" you described. That brick is going to look like arse in a few years. At least with limewashing the brick is actually changing. The maintenance on a peeling white brick exterior is going to be a nightmare.

Overall painted brick is not my taste and yes the brown stone is bad. I hate stucco too but at least it's better than painted brick or stones.

I like white quartz countertops, don’t have them but I do like the look

I don't think it looks terrible, but those gold fixtures are
ugly. The thing about white washing brick that made it cool was only a few people did it. Now it all looks the same.

I don't hate it. But I think the painted brick trend will be outdated very soon.

It is nice when trying to rework an older house, but when they started building hundreds of cookie cutter houses in places like Baton Rouge or Houston with that same style....it was just a matter of time before it would get stale.

I still like it way more than the EFIS/stucco houses that are the mass produced "french country" style home.

I don’t see a single cringey arse “Life Laugh Love” sign in there so that’s always good

In our old house my ole lady went with the white counter tops with the white tile backsplash against my wishes, but it really grew on me after a while.

Side note...it's sad that I know that exact brand of the kitchen fixtures in the second pic thanks to a new kitchen remodel we are going through. Delta Brizo collection.

edit: frick man why'd you change the picture?

Outside of the countertops and backsplash, I like that kitchen. It would be better if the venthood area was bricked, though.

I hate it when you walk into a house and see almost nothing but white except for the kitchen island.

It's too bright. Feels like living in a laboratory or something. On the plus side I do like the larger windows and more spacious kitchens.

I do too but the white countertops, with white subway tile backsplash, with white cabinets, and the super-bright "daylight" LED fixtures makes me feel like I am in a sterile operating room.

I hate modern interior design.

Give me a Victorian era mansion vibe. All ver decorated and stuffy. Actual separate rooms.

only problem with that is you need a really big house to pull it off well. i'm a fan though

i also really like the minimalism you see in a lot of celebrities' socal mansions
