Well, to be fair many guns used in daily shootings in cities like Chicago, NOLA, etc are all coming across the same border fentanyl is coming across. Ask Obama about Fast and Furious and how many of those guns would up being used in crimes here in the USA.

If there is a correlation between mass shooters and the perceived meaninglessness of human existence, it should follow that we should seek to understand meaning.

Yet, as a society, we’ve all but rejected meaning by embracing science as if they are mutually exclusive when they are not.

Yet you are the one correlating a mental insanity issue with a weapon issue. Since the 1950's, numerous laws limiting firearm sales and possession have been enacted. During the same time period, hundreds of thousands mentally ill people have been released/never been incarcerated in now shuttered state mental institutions.

Since the dawn of man, society has had nut jobs and weapons. Its only in the last 70 years we decided to release the mentally ill into society, while at the same time, blaming weapons when these mentally ill people used one to kill others.

But its the fricking rednecks with a gun who are dumb.

This was a bunch of kids, he could have killed just as many with pointy sticks.

Its not a gun problem, its a government/society problem.

It's a society problem exacerbated by the ease of access to guns by nutcases. And he wouldn't have evaded cops and made it to a locked down school with a pointy stick. Guns are a much more efficient and easier at committing mass violence than knives and blunt objects, that's a fact.

I'm typing this as someone that owns 7 guns.

The "stable" folks intent on locking people up despite having committed no crimes.

The problem is the number of guns in this country, and how easily obtainable they are. Any solution will take years, if not decades, to bear fruit. We are not a patient country so there really isn’t solution. You just gotta hope it doesn’t land in your school, church, grocery store, movie theater, or anywhere else in public you lie to go.

Honestly, probably more good people with guns. The one good thing about Covid is it turned all of America into a bunch of gun nuts both on the Right and the Left. They're not going to legislate shite on that at least until the next generation takes power.

Shocking this is your position. If it weren't for guns, we'd be Australia under their tyranny.

wow. Act strange and you get a 10 year commitment to a mental hospital? Yeah, I don’t want to live in that authoritarian hell.

Stop mentioning the shooter's name in the media for starters. That won't happen though

Yeah, this is a big one. I only remember the name of the South Carolina shooter, and I wish I could forget it. I've purged the rest of them out of my mind. Unless said shooter is at large, never report on their name or face.

Okay. I didn’t say anything about banning guns or eliminating them from society.

voting there is compulsory, so one could argue their laws more closely reflect their values (whether or not we agree with them)

Especially when you have programs like Fast and Furious by Obama enabling criminals to get their hands on weapons so easily
