No my parents are not divorced. I have a friend who made the same argument "because we're a family" but he has half brothers and sisters and now a different last name from his mom and step father yet they're all still a family.

I guess I don't "get" that perspective because I'm not part of a "blended" family.

If my last name was “gay” “reich” or “trump” I would take her last name...

Gay: gotta own it, son. It goes from gay to cool.
Reich: this day and age, probably. But yelling nice things in German to scare everyone is still funny.
Trump: I'm sorry. I thought this was America??

One of my wife's colleagues took his wife's last because she was an established doctor, and they didnt want to go the hyphenated route. If you knew their last names the hyphenated version would have been hysterical.

To each his own, the world's not going to explode over it.

He’s a cuck. My old doctor took her husbands name but used her maiden still for work. It can be done.

Not that common, but you can't say he's a beta without knowing his reasons.

I heard about one guy who did it because his dad was a deadbeat so he took his wife's name as an FU.

Maybe his name was identical or similar to someone with a bad reputation in his industry or his local community.

One of Mitch's cousins introduces himself in social situations using his wife's last name.

Only time I heard it happening where I thought it was a great idea was when the guy had absolutely no family. Tossed around in foster care and his wife's family really took him in. He wanted to see their name continue instead of one that meant shite to him.

Her name would have to be on a mustard bottle or a gallon of milk before I'd even consider it.

I know someone who has done this, and I wouldn’t call him beta. More like omega.

I simply mean Judaism follows lineage through the mother, so maybe its something like that?

Not exactly and the surname comes from the father. The mother is the determinate for if they are born Jewish or if they have to convert. If the mother is Jewish (even if she is a convert to Judaism) the children are considered Jewish from birth. It was a simple and effective way to ascertain lineage to a know Jew prior to DNA testing. You can lie about the father but it’s a bit harder to lie bout whose vi]agine a kid passed through. Not impossible to fake but much less easier, particularly if a midwife was involved.

I mean, there are some unfortunate last names out there that I’d definitely change if they were mine. Fortunate to not have one though

Actually you have to be Alpha enough to make your own decisions and not be intimidated or controlled by what betas bitching on the internet think of you. It's called being a man.
