Agreed. And for those laughing, please give us an honest assessment of how this is going. We just tried to escort a couple of ships into the Red Sea and our naval vessels got run off by the Houthis. When is the last time we suffered a defeat at sea?

That would be too easy, and not a money maker.

Why exactly should we care? Aren't we at war with Putin?

Sounds like the Houthis did us a solid.

It's kind of a mixed bag. Any attack on anything in the Straits threatens shipping in general, so that's an issue. Further, it's a British controlled vessel, so that's another complication.

Beyond that, yeah, we don't really care. I imagine this is them feeling out what they can get away with. Last time they hit a US flagged vessel, we launched a tactical strike that ruined several someone's day.

Biden says you can't go up against the US without F-14's and nukes. So...????

I assume this an oddly oblique reference to Second Amendment arguments revolving around domestic overthrow of the United States government. Because I've neither the interest nor the energy to engage in that kind of silliness right now, I'll just point out that's quite different than some desert guerillas lobbing ordinance at ships halfway across the globe.

MOAR war.

MOAR laundering.

Yemen = the latest thing no one cared about until the pretty people in makeup on our screens told us to do so.

There’s short sightedness and then there’s this post

Your viewpoint is essentially how Al Qaeda came to gain a foothold in Afghanistan via the Taliban

On an English vessel. What are England and Russia doing about it? Russia was paid as soon as it was loaded, so nothing. The ship is not owned by a government entity, so nothing.

That leaves us, even though none of it was ours.

Too bad that capt didn’t set course to Yemen port, put the ship at full speed and then abandon it.

To to micro-penis possessors silently downvoting me: yes, they are fundamentally different, you tits. That doesn't change the fact that I'm a libertarian who thinks you should have the right to own an RPG if you fricking want one, nevermind a pansy assed "assault weapon". Don't @ me, you fricking cowards

Hard disagree. I'm not saying that the backest of political backchannels wouldn't be fricking thrilled, but the grassroots/astroturphed backlash would be deafening the world over.
