That’s the other thing. Whoever set this up as an internship only makes it look worse. The man has multiple degrees and I think a masters. Just give him a regular job. I think they said they set it up this way so it wouldn’t have to make the position public. Something like that.

Shocker that the unbiased Houston Chronicle has not picked up the story.

This is obviously incorrect. According to the O-T, this sort of thing only happens in Louisiana.

He has a law degree from Texas Southern which has the worst bar passing rate in the state and an average ACT score of 17 for accepted students. So I would not call him educated. He also worked for Sheila Jackson Lee which usually results in someone getting dumber.

The point is he is still too qualified for an “internship”.

It's widely known that Turner is giving his contacts, friends and benefactors contracts and benefits. It's one of the main things King is running on.

Going back to McGreevy from my earlier post, that guy was appointment to the state’s homeland security post. It fell apart between the guy being a foreign national in a job with security clearance requirements and his background being completely unsuited for what he was hired for (he had a music degree IIRC).
Theoretically, they could have posted a job this guy qualified for with very specific requirements to cut down on applicants then selected him at the end of things. But that may have had other problems if the guy got smoked out.

I have often wondered what happened to Sly.
Sly and the Family Stone

Sly and the Family Stone

It probably disqualifies him from even being a staff lawyer for a Texas state agency but still qualifies him as a district court judge if their legal system is comparable to the one for LA.

They’re keeping it on the brown low for him?

The people who voted for don’t care. It will just be a feather in his cap.
Look who the people voted for:
Shelia Jackson Lee
Beto
Al Green
18 liberal judges that let anyone have bond.

Sounds less like he’s in a pickle and more like the pickle is in him

Our NBC station here is the one running with the story... NBC.
Turner is slimy.

95k for an intern? That is fraud and he should be forced to step down immediately.
We have to stop shite like this. Nobody but the very highest level of local government should be making anything close to 100k.

All this happening whilst firefighters and police are understaffed and having paycuts. The real issue here is on camera twice recently Mayor sly denied knowing who this man (the intern) is. When confronted again yesterday he did admit he knew him. Also a recommendation letter for this man by the mayor himself has been discovered which helped him land the internship. There are all sorts of speculations abounding about the nature of their relationship. Either way you slice it, mayor turner is being pounded by the press and finds himself squarely in a Pickle.
I've never had any issues with Sly until now. He's not great, but I thought he did a decent job during Harvey and I stand with him on this firefighter pay non-sense.
But this looks pretty bad, and the coverup is worse. If he had copped to it immediately, they could have played it off as bad judgment. This may cost him the election.

The city was on a "hiring freeze" as ordered by Mayor Turner ...

I don't know why they would cover it up. If he loses it will be to Tony Busby, a left wing trial lawyer.
