Actually not a bad comparison. He has a lot of support from the business community and he finally got Houston’s finances back on track (hence the upgraded Moody ranking) for the first time this millennium. And you make a lot of enemies whenever you’re a government executive and get the finances on track.
Just a massive amount of uninformed and downright stupid takes on this thread. Sly would immediately be the best mayor (or governor for that matter) Louisiana has had in a while if we had him.

Sylvester was the ranking democrat in the House when W was Gov. he cultivated a place at the table and cooperated with the GOP when there was no other choice,, he ran for mayor and was outed literally went back to the Leg and licked his wounds ( among others things, like male buttholes) ran for Mayor barely beat a moderate Republican in Bill King.. then restructured the pension debt,just kicking the can down the road ( yes an old Republican trick)
the reason the police union endorsed him has nothing to do with Turner being pro cop or tough on crime its simply to protect police jobs vs the firefighter raise that was voted by the voters in Prop B last year
pure politics for personal gain not a policy thing
