Truly sorry for the loss of the van but is the driver safe?

Drove to work from Pearland at 5am. I work near IAH airport. Building is flooding, JFK has high water, and ares east and northeast of here (Kingwood, Splendora, Beaumont) are flooding as well.

Off topic, but you drive from Pearland to IAH every day?? That sounds like hell on Earth.. i hope they let you work from home a lot.

Parts of Katy have street flooding.

La'Centera is closed

Peek and Cinco is flooded.

99 is a parking lot as usual.

We are getting pounded in Copperfield currently.

So small in all of this but my son is (or was) meeting a friend from Houston in Nashville today. I'm guessing the friend isn't flying out of Houston today nor is anyone else.

I can't even imagine flooding once much less twice. We came "close" in the flood of 2016 but were spared. Many prayers for these people.

I’m supposed to go to the medical center later today. I wonder if it will even be navigable and/or worth the trip.

Things should slowly improve as we get toward the evening. Cloud tops are warming, which is good news for the rain potential and short range models are showing the rainbands falling apart by nighttime. Hope that's true but still inches to go before any of that.
