No, I've just had different people out for quotes. Only issues we've really had was a chimney leak that we have since tracked down. Roof is original to the house (19 years), so I've been getting estimates in anticipation of replacement. A/C has been all tune-ups other than the defrost board and that system is also original. It runs like a champ given its age.

What's a good camera system that's easy to set up for an area that has low crime but a homeowner who grew up in New Orleans and is accustomed to expecting crime.

The other thing to consider is camouflaging the safe. Put it inside a cardboard box with something written on it like 'winter coats'.
Most women also put their jewelry box on their dresser in the MB. You could also consider making some book safes and putting some of her jewelry that doesn't get worn very often in those and placing them on a shelf somewhere.

It really amazes me that someone could do something like that. It’s time we start executing thieves. No reason someone like that should be allowed to go on living

Strongly considering leaving another small gun safe out in the open with a GPS transmitter locked inside.

nothing you can do but move now. seriously, they got a nice score at your house and told all their friends by now. might be 2 weeks, 2 months, 6 months, or a year but they as well as a few friends will hit your house again and again until they think there is no longer good stuff there to steal.
i dont give a damn what you do short of sit in your front yard 24/7 with a machine gun all the time. you are now know known to all the local criminals as a ripe target worth the risk or robbing.
install all the aralam systems and sirens you want but you will be targeted again and again

What are the best values for cameras out there? I am thinking of installing 4 of them to supplement my spare game camera.

Sams club has a nice 16channel/ 8 camera set up made by Samsung. Was about $400.

Yes. It's all plug and play. Screw cameras to desired location. Pull wires to a central hub. Has an app that works with your home network. I got the wired system. But wireless does exist. I felt like the wireless would be up & down like every other wireless thing I own. And it'd likely be down when it mattered...

I have a cheap one hidden in the landscaping that gets a clear shot of everything and everyone getting near the driveway and front door. Mostly catches my dog and the mail lady.
Would like some real cameras though. May e wireless setup that I can take with me if we move.

There is no reason that anybody who lives in a house shouldn't have a security system. I know you said you just purchased a system after this happened, so good on you for that. But just think if you had an alarm already in place, it would have gone off in 45 seconds and you might still have that safe, the engagement ring, etc. shite, they might have dropped everything and just got out.

Might go check this out at Sam's.
Thanks for the tip. Install will probsbly be a hassle for an impatient a-hole like myself. I might go wireless just to make it easier to take with me when we move.
