told my wife I feel like painting the cameras(4 of them) fluorescent orange so they would be easily seen
It would be better if the cameras weren’t easily seen lol. All a thief has to do is spray black spray paint on your lens and problem solved

Get a large dog. Security systems are only to notify you that your house WAS broken into. A dog is the only deterrent out there besides a full time security guard

I'm guessing you're off of 316? Police probably aren't going to do much if they're Barrow. If Statham, they only care about issuing DUIs for taking Advil.
I'm not directly off 316, but I take it in to work and am close by. You obviously know the area based on the Statham comment, albeit that has stopped since the ofdending officer moved on.
I know two people in Oconee hit the same way two years ago, but interestingly, both had the same address number, just on connecting streets....as though someone on a crew told someone else where to go and they hit both just to be sure they went to the right one. One of those you?

If they get that close, it'll be too late. I will have already called the cops.

It was most likely the service guy who had most recently been to your house.
Pics of wife would help us figure this out.

If, by some miracle, I find it to be that guy, I'll oblige you.

Expect to be broken into again. They know what they got, and that you will replace it with new. Why shouldn't they go for the better newer stuff?
What this means is: first get a camera enhanced security system up. And VERY visible.
Second: to get even, post on some neighborhood email networks asking for other folks who have been robbed. With three or four incidents, it should be a lot easier to figure out who dunit.

Only thing they could really expect to get would be replacement TVs. You can't expect every piece of jewelry to get replaced (it won't), not to mention there wasn't that much. The engagement ring won't be left again.

Will be installed December 6th. Also, getting rid of the cypress tree and getting the security light turned on. Lastly, the sidelights won't exist any longer on the door. So the things that made it easy will be addressed shortly. Others I know of nearby haven't been repeated, so who knows. They got the most they'll ever get this time. It won't get better, especially not with increased risk.

That’s a lot of people.
Only one is on my suspect list, though. And honestly, it's just as likely to be random.

very few things burn your arse more than being robbed ... not grief or anything that bad, but it absolutely burns ... dogs are good for when you're home and they alert you ... guess cameras and digital protection are the best thing you can do ...

I bet it’s a kid in the neighborhood or a someone who lives very close.
Everybody has tv’s and blue ray players. A criminal looking to break and enter can do that a lot closer to their home.

What's a good camera system that's easy to set up for an area that has low crime but a homeowner who grew up in New Orleans and is accustomed to expecting crime.
We bought a 4 camera Samsung with a 1 Terabyte storage drive 2 cameras in front drive and walk to courtyard. 1 in courtyard and 1 at front door. Back of property is very secure.
Drive and front walk cameras are visible from street Others pick you up before you see them as they are hidden until you are in front of them

They are high enough to be hard to reach in order to paint. By the time a thief could paint them they would be taped and recorded.
I believe they will avoid a house with cameras and go down a house or two and break in there. I might be wrong, but still believe that.

Get you one of these (American Staffordshire Terrier) and all you will have to clean up is the shite that fell out of the thieves arse when the thief saw the dog.
