If your argument is that weed is a gateway drug, then yes. I agree with you. I think I’d connect loose regs on the current opioid epidemic though.

Even if weed is a gateway drug (it is). So is alcohol and tobacco though. So it’s really not a good argument against legalization.

My point on decriminalization is exactly because of this. I couldn't care less about the "morality" of it b/c it's not my position to control others actions. Government shouldn't intervene until YOUR rights infringe on MY rights (etc). Decriminalization keeps people out of jail but also keeps 100's of shops popping up in each town and making weed super accessible to everyone very easily. I certainly have no problem with people making a ton of money off of it.. I just feel like if you make drugs taxed and legal, then a fair amount more people will be using weed than would be using weed.

Weed isn't a drug that moves society to be more productive. I just think the government has no business in telling anyone what they can and cannot put into their bodies

You must hate alcohol then.

This is idiotic.

You think alcohol makes people more productive? No. But the government needs to keep their hands off.

What are the chances a Republican-controlled Senate passes this? Not likely, IMO. I genuinely think some or most of the Senate Republicans want to pass it, and there are a lot of (R) cosponsors and votes on the House bill, but they can't let the Dems be the winning bill. Call me cynical, but partisan politics is too strong of a force in DC to let this one go through to the top.

That's not a dig at only Republicans, rather that's a dig at everyone in and around the Capitol building.

I’ve said for over a year now that Trump could get some younger votes and people on the fence if he passed legalization

Lol, this happens to everyday normal people that weren't previous drug addicts.

People with good paying jobs and families.

No different than developing alcoholism when you are older or finding out you like to gamble.

depends upon how quickly they take controlling interest behind triple corporate shields, of the most profitable and/or highest volume companies.

And this is why I hate politics. It's not about doing the right thing for the country. It's about beating the other team.

That is what decriminalization does. Legalization puts their hands on.

No I never argued alcohol makes people productive. Where would you get that impression?

Don't know if sarcasm or not... there's a lot of ignorant people that think this way.

When the overwhelming majority of the population supports legalization, then it should be legalized.

Your morals don't trump the majority.

How about you bible thumpers in this part of the country put a little effort into trying to teach people to eat a little healthier so we can quit subsidizing the fat asses who get the sugar leg and develop cardio issues.

These issues are a real drain on our tax dollars and resources.

You need to be protesting outside every place that sells booze. Or STFU.
