The CDC has traced thousands of illnesses back to contaminated public pools, hot tubs, spas and waterparks.

More than 27,000 people have gotten sick from using public pools, spas, hot tubs and water parks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Most of the outbreaks can be traced back to water contaminated with diarrhea.

The CDC advises everyone to stay out of the water if you've been sick with diarrhea.

The CDC also found two bacteria in public waters: Legionella, responsible for Legionnaires' disease, and Pseudomonas, which causes ear infections and rashes.

No way hot tubs are dirty. All the added salt in there kills germs.

Some bacteria, such as Cryptosporidium, are not affected by normal levels of chlorine in pools. People are filthy animals and when they congregate in large numbers, bacteria and viruses have a field day.

I worked at an apartment complex for college students and was asked to clean the pool one summer.

Good god the shite i saw in that pool and hot tub the next morning. The water was usually green by 6am

America should adopt the Japanese custom of showering before getting in a pool/hot tub.

Water parks disgust me. It’s like taking a bath with 5000 trashy people.

And there’s no way in hell I’m getting in that hot tub at the Holiday Inn.

i was a lifeguard in HS and we had a BioChem company come and do a water analysis at the recreation center i worked at. I will never again go swimming in an indoor pool. its basically a bacteria farm.

Wait. Are there some people who frown on urinating and deficating in public pools and hot tubs?
