If you have say a $3600 deductible and are hospitalized. Do you have to pay the entire amount the day you check out?
I don't think so. But I'm just a nurse..not the billing department.
For me...it was a planned, non-emergent, elective outpatient surgery. I was told how much I was expected to pay upon check in or they wouldn't do the surgery.

Hellooooo, nurse!

You driving around in a Maserati? That you actually bought for your maid.

You know...cause you are a doctor and clearly have this evil plan you are part of simply because you are a doctor where you purposely overcharge your patients?

I heard they can't even give out pens anymore to the nurses
I did get to go to a really nice steakhouse for infection control education paid for by 3M recently. But I think they were only able to do that cause they could claim it was educational(I got some CEs for it).

Your extra 130 went to pay for
The homeless person who came in drunk needing a Valium taper
The iv drug user who came in and needs 6 weeks of antibiotics for endocarditis
The random person who won't ever pay their hospital bill and comes in monthly for a heart failure/copd exacerbation due to noncompliance
Oh and the administration that makes more than even the physicians and residents.
The system is broken, but it'll never be fixed at this point honestly.

You don't understand why a hospital would have constantly increasing costs? Employee raises, facility improvements, purchasing new technology and software, marketing and advertising etc.

Got you, just asked because BSNs and RNs seem to know the most and be the most direct.

I’m tired of the Andexxa reps bringing in food and trying to convince me to add it to formulary.
I’ve told them it’s not happening

It’s because Medicaid gets so much for free.
So, they basically tax the working folks to make up for money

You wouldn't believe what I've been through even with a "good" hospital and clinic like Emory. Went through a CT scan only to get a call when I return home, that they'd forgotten to do include half my body. Then I got charged for two scans and three diffifent radiologist fees to review them. Each. Then I found out that doctor hadn't timed the ordering properly so insurance denied everything. Then I had to fight $15,000 of bills for months. Then oncologist goes over a radiologist report that had improperly identified a "new" mass that was actually old and cancer free and was charged for that scare.
Just a sample.
Just a sample.

Got a question... how do they get away with giving 2 different bills for the same service? I went into ER for a dog bite and got one bill for $250 from the hospital and another for $1500 from a company called EMBCC
The ER visit was literally a bandage, an antibiotic, a prescription wrote that i didn’t even need, and a visit with animal control. The $250 from the hospital was probably fair but the $1500 is a scam

I know at some of the ERs around here you will get a separate bill from the physician group. But they tell you that upon registration to the ER.
What sucks...is when your ER is in network...but the physician group is not.

You pay for the hospital services with the bill from the hospital. Materials, use of the room, nurses, etc.
A lot of hospitals contract out physician groups to treat ER patients and they aren’t direct employees of the hospital. The second bill is probably from the physician group

Your subject line is wrong. I believe you meant to say hospital Standard Operating Procedure.

I had to get some of those circulation socks one time. The doctor wrote me a prescription and told me where to go. It cost $90 for a tight pair of socks.
Since the doctor wrote me a prescription an all, I thought it was going to be some high tech shite or something.. After I got them, I checked online, which could have been bought for $12.
I am all for people charging whatever they can get for something, but in the moment.. The doctor gives me a prescription and tells me to go to a certain place, I was just thinking it must have been something specific. There is a reason the doctor is sending you there.. Then you realize they just sold you a pair of socks that had about an 800% profit margin.

I am not saying Trump made it better or worse.. I honestly don't know how he has impacted the medical industry (haven't kept up with it), but I bet this. While you have a different view, it is likely just as wrong as he is.
