That stretch of highway is insane. High volume and lots of trucks all the time. People drive fast as shite through there as well.

Cars had to have fallen off of that trailer, right?

I drive that stretch 4-5 times a year coming from LA and traffic is almost never congested there. In fact, I look forward to getting on 65 after 3 hours in the pain in the arse that is 12 & 10

Damn.

I was in an accident in that same area several years ago, and the ER in Greenvillenis a joke. Wonder if the Medvac helicopters were able to fly today. It’s been raining and nasty all day in Birmingham.

DO NOT USE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN IT IS RAINING. DON'T WAIT TO SEE IF THERE ARE PUDDLES ON THE ROAD. IT IS TOO LATE WHEN YOU FIND OUT THAT THERE ARE PUDDLES

I saw a woman comment on one of the photos that James Spann shared that two of her grandkids had been killed in the crash, another was in critical condition, and another had been taken to the hospital. Prayers out to all of these people.

Normally it isn’t bad. But during the summer vacation season, on weekends it’s a freaking madhouse with heavy traffic in both directions. Mix in the idiots wanting to 90+ with a bunch of folks trying to do around 70, throw in a bunch of trucks which are doing go to do 70 but yet still want to pass other trucks going a half mile less than they are, and you get a recipe for this . It’s especially true if there is heavy rain which today there was.

I-65 through pretty much all of Alabama is pretty terrible on Saturday’s during the summer.

Is it just me or have drivers on interstates become more and more aggressive? Constant tailgating, weaving in and out of lanes, and going 85+.

What a terrible tragedy.

Having just returned from Gulf Shores, I’m shocked this isn’t a weekly occurrence. Insane dangerous on all major highways in Mississippi and Alabama during beach season. Prayers sent.

Who in the hell is gonna be looking at James Spann’s Facebook, Instagram, etc right after losing two grandkids and having other family members fighting for their lives? Gotta call BS on that one or the old lady has a serious social media problem.

Coupled with a phone in their hand and their heads down is a really shitty combination

She might just be looking for information.

That’s a pretty remote area and considering the amount of traffic backed up for miles and miles, it’s possible cell service there is being overwhelmed.

I’m from Greenville originally. That entire stretch on 65 from the Conecuh/Butler County line through Fort Deposit is notorious for bad wrecks. People drive like psychopaths through there.

Yeah, I live in Baldwin County. We've started skipping the interstate all together when heading to north Bama to visit family. It's worth the extra hour.

People drive like complete assholes going to and from the beach.

65 is a nightmare for no good reason. We've been stuck at and around the rest stop near that pileup so many times.
There are no breaks in the median guard cables now, so you're just stuck if you miss the last exit before the gnarl.
