They showed up and took an unusual occurrence report. I sent them the ring camera video. That's about it. I will say I talked to the Assistant Chief and they are going to do some surveillance patrols tonight. I do realize there is only so much they can do. I'm to the point where going to protect my own. Police can't be everywhere and the courts are the main problem in EBR.

I wonder if neighborhoods in the US are going to look like some of the suburban parts of South Africa or Europe with giant walls and gates around each home.

The cops (most of them) hate it as much as we do. They write a report, nothing happens. They make an arrest, kid is back on the street the next day. I'll be most of them hope that a citizen would take care of business (100% legally, of course) as it's the only real way to get these thugs off of the street for good.

This isn't a joke - the DA's office in my city just hired a special assistant DA that won't prosecute - his job is specifically some stupid restorative justice program where the offender takes some classes - and they're proud of this waste of resources. Every single one of the kids that I know about that took part in these kinds of programs ended up committing much worse crimes later in life - bc they think the justice system is a joke.

Yeah we have friends that live right by that school.
One’s daughter got her bike stolen by the local thugs, who was dumb enough to be riding it around afterward and get spotted.
16 year old black kid riding a 10 year old girl’s bike kind of sticks out.
Girl ended up with the bike back. Dumbass turned it over to the cops when some veiled threats were made about it being a stolen bike and the cops were looking for it, and his name got turned over to the ZPD after the bike was dropped off, which resulted in someone from ZPD giving the kid a good arse chewing.
Kid didn’t get arrested that I know but the cops knowing he did it and lied to them when he turned it in killed whatever leeway dumbass gets if he gets caught again.
