Very cool. Sticker on the mag brought up the question. Was talking to a fella at a local shop and he was talking about how he retro fitted an 5.56 AR to use 7.62 and he loved it.

but if someone is trespassing on your property and brandishing firearm, aren’t you within your rights to shoot them?
In order to "legally" shoot him, he would have to point the pistol at you, shoot at you, etc.
If he's breaking into your car, you can't shoot him either unless you're inside the car already.
Now, if he's breaking into your house, blast away.
It's a strange law that I don't agree with. Just stating the legal aspect of it.

No one is coming to save you
No one is coming to save you,
In the moment you need them the most,
It’s just fate and you,
If you dare, derring-do
When your time of the hour draws close,
No one is coming to save you,
Despite what we’ve been told it’s a fact,
When it’s all on the line,
Harrowed hands tick off time,
You can scurry, or cower, or act
Because no one is coming to save you,
Those you trusted await on the hill,
You will face it alone,
On your own, on your own,
So the hero’s boots are yours to fill,
When the ones diving headfirst to danger,
Aren’t the ones that we’ve built to be strong,
Our illusions of trust,
Turn from iron to rust,
And we find we’ve been wrong all along,
Now you know, no one’s coming to save you,
Fire’s spreading with no time to wait,
But it’s better to burn,
Than to linger and learn,
That you’ve answered the call all too late.
Laws are little but civil suggestions,
And the code’s only good as the man,
When the thin veneer breaks,
Yours is what you can take,
Contracts worthless as castles in sand,
Because no one is coming to save you,
When the chips are down, back to the wall,
And there’s no one but you,
When the devil comes due,
You can whimper or answer the call,
Only fools trust in frail institutions,
For the odds are you’re damned if you do,
If it’s got to be done,
Then there’s naught left but one,
No one’s coming to save you but you

OP said Fennwood area.
To give an idea where this is. Bottom right of picture is Zachary High. Fennwood is a Nice older neighborhood/country club connected to newer neighborhoods.
I used to run through this area often back in my fit days 2008-2010. Was safe at 5 am or 10pm.
This shite the OP posted is scary. Expect to see that on a ring cam in Mid City BR but not where he's at in Zachary.

Just break a window from the outside and claim he was breaking in. Claim he fell over and died while running away.

1) Register that bike as yours if the city or parish has a system to do so.
2) Buy an Apple AirTag and out it under the bike seat.
3) Leave the bike in an area under camera surveillance…a camera with better resolution.
4) Wait.
5) When the bike’s stolen, don’t report it immediately.
6) Track the bike and try to connect it to crimes that police generated reports for, matching times/dates to AirTag info. Consider sharing the info with the victims of those crimes.
7) Report the bike as stolen, present the crime info to the officer, and show him or her (her? Ha ha ha! Anyway…) the current location of the bike.
8) Watch as the police do nothing.

You live on Bourbon Street?

Looks like he could be a teenager. It lets you know that it is very much tied to culture. I’m skeptical that many 13-17 year olds are resorting to thievery out of desperation. It’s simply the cool and admirable thing to do

To kind of break down the area, Fennwood and most of the other neighborhoods near it are nice.
The biggest problem in that area is Windsor Place, a DSLD neighborhood that is about 15 years old. That is the area directly across from Rouses’s and the library on the map. (Three streets with no trees other than one grove still standing bordering Church St.)
The other major problem area is The Avenues, close to the high school and middle school, but that is on the far east side of the map and beyond.

But when he wouldn't even take the Bike which is probably stolen I had enough bullshite.
The chances of them being able to return that bike to its owner is slim to none. It was either not reported stolen or the owner didn't know the serial number. Regardless, the bike is your problem.

If you reasonably feared for your life you can use force to defend yourself. Technically he would have to make some sort of threat whether physical or verbal first before you can take action.

My Weimaraner is a sweet lapdog. But when the motion light outside goes off, he sounds like a freight train looking to kill. He then runs out the door and jumps against the wooden fence gate.
Bottom line, he wouldn't attack, but a perp would sure as shite rather approach a different house, or waste a very loud first shot on a dog.
The big picture is at that point, he's now fired upon my person, opening up my freedom to return such force directly at him without hesitation...castle law issue solved, lol (I'm in Louisiana, not TX)
Bottom line, protect yourself in every way, including legal angles as well.
