Replace Bikini Bottom with homeless of course, and that's exactly all they're doing. Shocker that they aren't solving shite.

It's really pathetic. American cities will look like India in no time. Americans have a choice. Fix the problems or watch them get worse. It seems like a lot of people in this country aren't just sitting by, but they're encouraging the problems to escalate.

At this point, I have to assume that our leaders are our enemies.

Pitching a tent on a public sidewalk IS closing that sidewalk. Is it not?

We should allow the police to shoot anyone on site, no questions asked, if the officer does not like the looks of the person. You can bet your arse the homeless would find themselves a home then by dam. We all know police do not make mistakes and even when they do it is a small price to pay to live in freedom. They should be allowed to kill anyone who is not toeing the line and not conforming to the norms established by the police department. The only real way to enjoy freedom is to live in a police state. Why we keep fighting it is beyond me....

Parks in the Garden District and Uptown have bums in them

I am in Audubon park 3-5 days a week. There usually are people hanging out charging their phone. Can’t say they really bother anyone

Yup.

LRS 14:107 Vagrancy was repealed for some reason. The statute used to read:

quote:

§107. Vagrancy

The following persons are and shall be guilty of vagrancy:

(1) Habitual drunkards; or

(2) Persons who live in houses of ill fame or who habitually associate with prostitutes; or

(3) Able-bodied persons who beg or solicit alms, provided that this article shall not apply to persons soliciting alms for bona fide religious, charitable or eleemosynary organizations with the authorization thereof; or

(4) Habitual gamblers or persons who for the most part maintain themselves by gambling; or

(5) Able-bodied persons without lawful means of support who do not seek employment and take employment when it is available to them; or

(6) Able-bodied persons of the age of majority who obtain their support gratis from persons receiving old age pensions or from persons receiving welfare assistance from the state; or

(7) Persons who loaf the streets habitually or who frequent the streets habitually at late or unusual hours of the night, or who loiter around any public place of assembly, without lawful business or reason to be present; or

(8) Persons found in or near any structure, movable, vessel, or private grounds, without being able to account for their lawful presence therein; or

(9) Prostitutes.

What’s interesting is how do these folks survive? I see derelicts just hanging on street corners, filthy, just existing.

Homeless in New Orleans

It feels like NO east is fairly unoccupied. I'd be for the city running power to abandoned homes and letting homeless live there to try to get their lives back on track. Obviously its not as easy as that and some non profit would have to take the lead but at least its a solution. The people living in these houses should be in recovery from drugs and trying to find work with the goal of being able to afford renting outside of the community. I don't live in la la land and realize that it probably wouldn't work and for most homeless I think thats true but if they stay on top of it and evict people that aren't trying to better their lives and put time limits on how long someone can stay before they have to figure something else out then it could work.

Littering, loitering, jay walking, drugs, indecent exposure/urinating in public, etc…

It’s like saying illegals aren’t criminals, they all are.

Could solve this real quick and easy and coincidentally painlessly too.

Use the fentanyl the police confiscated from an interstate bust and give away all the free overdoses the addicts want. They OD, die off, and because it is a pain reliever they won’t feel a thing. Mulch the bodies and fertilize the green spaces they trashed by squatting.

They find a way to have enough money for the newest cellphone, cigarettes, a few Big Gulps from the gas station, and unlimited fast-food.....I know this just from the litter they pile around them trashing the street corners.

You mean the one with the 1/2 of a left arm who's on the corner of Canal by the cemeteries by the red light???

She's been around for a few years now and her dad lived over on S. Scott St. near Mona's before he died a few years ago. People that knew her from that area said she's about as crazy as a shithouse rat.

We do. The laws aren’t enforced.
