Of course not haha. I’m not making a political statement. He’s become a fixture in that area and his golf umbrella makes us laugh.
I’m familiar with his story so we leave him alone but I’m sure the mattress place is sick of him.
He needs to be off the street and in a home or on medication or something.

I’m shocked. I randomly clicked on this link and realize I went to high school with this guy. I remember him telling me he was going to college at MIT. A few years later I saw him on campus at LSU and spoke to him. He told me he changed his mind on MIT because he wanted to be closer to home. Then, a few years after that, I saw him taking drive up orders at the Krispy Kreme stand alone on Bluebonnet.
What is the back story on this? I’d like to try to help him but I have not seen or spoken to him in over 25 years.

How do you know he is homeless? How do you know he is not just a drug addict?

What we consider mental illness today can differ tremendously from what was considered in the first century. I think the closest we can get is the man in Gerasenes. This was a guy who is described as possessed by demons, living among tombs, exhibiting extreme strength, self-harm (cutting himself with stones), and engaging in what was likely extreme social isolation. It's not a stretch to think this man was suffering from what today we would classify as a psychosis or some dissociative disorders.
Jesus' position was to confront the man and cast the "unclean spirits" out of him (and into a herd of nearby pigs).
Anyone who feels they are holy enough to lay hands on someone and pray they addiction away is more than welcome to do so.
