I worked for State Farm for a while and I think they also took insureds' credit scores into consideration. That's why some people who say they have no accidents/claims and no tickets are shocked when their quote is high. check yo score!

State farm isn't writing new homes
Wrong we will gladly write. State farm is the number one insurer of autos and homes in the US. our service is #1 give your local agent a call.

I had State Farm for years. No claims and skyrocketing prices made me switch. Went with USAA and it’s been good so far.

if you have a claim with Allstate, get ready and bend over.

If you or your parents were in the military, it’s worth a look into USAA.

Most, if not all use your credit.in pricing your policies. People with better credit are seen as lower risks than poor credit.

Also check Encompass and State Auto (they write homeowners)

Call an independent non-captive broker in your town and ask to run as many quotes as they can. Choose the best after discussing with them. They have every incentive to help you the best they can.
An Allstate agent is Allstate’s agent NOT your agent.
Ditto for State Farm, Progressive, etc.

Liberty Mutual
I had Liberty Mutual since 2006 for auto and home. My auto premium had risen to an amount that I thought was unreasonable, and they refused to move off the number. So I went through a local independent agent, moved all my policies and saved a load of money.
My understanding is this situation isn't unique to Liberty Mutual. With every insurer, it pays to look around once in a while. Kind of like satellite TV providers.

Call Lanoix Agency. Good people and always take care of me.
Edit: Just realized you might be in Ms (in which case I’m very sorry)

USAA is very hard to beat. I've never heard anything negative about them, price or service-wise.
The ones you'll likely have the less positive experiences with are the little known companies written by independent agencies. They ARE cheaper, and there is a reason why.
You'll be fine. If you don't ever need them. File a claim, and that's where you might run into issues.
ETA...I know that not all companies written through independents are trouble. Please don't get me wrong. But do your research and you will be fine.

plus they won't drop you like state farm for too many claims
Yeah, I'd rather just not have too many claims...rather have none at all. I have statefarm now for auto and home.. haven't had a single claim for either policy...

Yep, switched from allstate to liberty mutual for home and auto cause allstate wanted an arm and a leg when I bought a new home... four years later, liberty mutual has skyrocketed. Time to find a new provider.

I just closed on a new home and went with Amica as they are one of the highest rated for customer service/claims and prices were competitive. Another good option is USAA if you are eligible.
I had State Farm for my old place for over 10 years. No issues with them, but their prices just kept going up.
Going forward, I plan to get new quotes every few years. If there is significant cost savings then I'll switch.

Home: go with a local guy. They can work down to your price preference.
Auto: just left State Farm after decades. Very bittersweet but no one can touch Geico.
