I was thinking the same thing. Did some quick math. A Gulfstream V uses 375 gallons of jet fuel per hour of flight time; Los Angels to Rome is about 14 hours; that's 5250 gallons each way per plane. Now I know they are not all flying that far, but some are flying larger jets that burn more fuel. I drive about 30,000 miles per year, get about
25mph or so, that's only 1200 gallons of fuel per year. Wife drives half that and gets better millage, so lets just say 1800 for the family. And a certain element of society follows these people like lemmings to the sea.

Are you under the impression that China is going to listen to that bullshite? Under the Paris accord, we were paying them billions to do nothing, and if we hadn’t withdrawn we’d have continued for decades.

Complete lie. Before we withdrew they were on pace to reach the targets set out in the treaty well ahead of the timeframe agreed upon:

Okay so we should just do nothing? What sort of enforcement mechanism can you impose on a sovereign state?

Never implied that.

I would prefer that it be more free market based like tax incentives, or something similar, for meeting certain emission levels.

This is a goal.

China committed to peak its carbon emissions around 2030

The French must have "negotiated" that. So we were in fact paying the Chinese billions, and they were allowed under the agreement (not treaty) to increase emissions for more than a decade. Thank God we got out of that agreement.

The Chinese government should love climate change, and never want it to go away as an issue. They get paid, and their competitors cripple their industries. It's an economic wet dream for them.

Again, sell it elsewhere. I don't care if it's China, but this country has paid more than its fair share.

More than 1% of people care about climate change, and of those people way more than 1% of their opinions are influenced by these clowns flying to Sicily.

You may not want to admit that but it’s true.

In fact, if it weren’t for the hyperbole and hypocrisy surrounding the issue we may be able to have an actual conversation about it. But, the dramatic elitists in our society are the ones beating the drum, so the conversation will stay with one side announcing our impending doom while the other side calls bullshite and never actually move closer to the middle.

Don't forget it's always "other peoples" money too! None of these fools actually support a real wealth tax that they extol the virtues of. It would make them just as broke as the rest of the normies.

When the 1st one sells their Gulfstream GIII and donates the proceeds towards balancing the govt. budget THEN I might listen.

you are completely out of your depth. Making this kind of change to a country the size of China, in the industrial stage they are in now, is a massive endeavor that takes years and years to effectively address. You can’t just snap your fingers and magically their emissions drop, at least not any kind of a reasonable plan that a sovereign nation would ever agree to.

Thankfully, we don't have to find out. It shouldn't be our business to pay China to do anything. Ever.

I'm sure these solons of ecological policy would approve of a 100% federal tax on movies, music and other entertainment arts to fund cleaner emissions so that they "pay their fair share." After all, the Earth is in such critical shape I'm certain they'll pitch in without a peep.

I highly disagree with this statement

Italian wine was top notch. Their table wine was way better (and cheaper) than the shite you can find over here
