The Rock was in Walking Tall.

Bufford Pussor had to be rolling over in his grave.

I like the black dude with dreadlocks as a leading voice in the Bolshevik revolution in A Gentleman in Moscow. Did they really have brothers in Russian in 1917?

They don't say actress anymore, everyone is an actor.

Why anyone continues to contribute to the entertainment industry as a whole anymore with their own money is beyond me. This is a conscientious attempt to program your brain, and the brains of Americans on a whole, especially young people, and so why anyone would willingly subject themselves to people tinkering with your mind is incredible.

Watching A Gentleman in Russia on Showtime, because of the diverse casting policies now, one of the Russian Bolsheviks is played by a black man with dreadlocks which clearly would not exist in the 1920's.

Can you think of a single instance where a white character's race is ever germane to the story?

Cry, The Beloved Country
Watermelon Man
Lincoln
Cry Freedom
Invictus
A Soldier's Story
Stir Crazy
Grambling's White Tiger

I have only seen Invictus, Lincoln, and Cry Freedom out of that list and in all three instances the only reason why race matters in those movies is because the main white protagonist isn't black.

Just try to cast a black trans Ann Frank and see how quick those very same people recoil in disgust.

Have no issue with race of who is cast, really sex either as long as they are true to the source material or history.

True to the source of the material????

So you're saying if there were to be a film concentrating on Adolf Hitler, a German male, it's fine with you if a female Chinese actress has the starring role...

If so, you're beyond a moron and part of the problem.

My question is: what do black folk think of all this proactive placating, making white characters black just to have black representatives. Do they really gaf?

The new Juliet…no. Just no. It could work if racism was at the core of the mutual hatred between the families…but it’s not so they should just leave it the frick alone.

It is up to the market to correct it by saying we aren't paying to watch that shite

I don't believe the market is influencing this. These production companies wouldn't continue to produce movies and TV shows that bomb at the box office and in ratings because they want to lose money.

I have believed for awhile now that someone is funneling boatloads of money to TV networks and movie producers to push leftist messaging as a way to offset the money loss at the box office in ratings.

Can you be any more ingenuous?

It doesn't fit! It doesn't make sense. Racial quotas in films are the stupidest policy yet.

I look forward to hearing from the "it's no big deal crowd" on how its (d)ifferent if/when a white tranny is casted as MLK Jr.

I have wondered the response to a movie about the civil rights era where the race roles were reversed. Would be intriguing.

You people are just ridiculously incompetent.

I'm sure you'll be man enough to tell black people the same if Chris Pratt stared as MLK in a movie.
