Hollywood replacing white people in true stories with black actors

It’s widely known that they are actively trying to get more diverse and replace characters that were originally white with black, little mermaid for example.
Ok. That’s fine. Argument could be made that white was the only color used for characters back in the day. Whatever.
But now they are taking white characters in true stories, and replacing them with black actors lol. They have no shame.

Have no issue with race of who is cast, really sex either as long as they are true to the source material or history.
Think of it like a school play, all hollywood really is about is playing make believe...let em have it.
What is frustrating is when they lazily remake a film and "rework" for a woke agenda
Also what is really sad, is it's a one way street...GOD forbid if a straight white actor was cast in place of a minority or gay.

It's called "blackwashing" and it's part of the current entertainment writing philosophy of "pale and male is stale". It's even to the point where many white, male writers have trouble getting jobs just for being white and male.

I watched a British movie based off a true story from the 1920s called Wicked Little Letters. They made the main judge black and also the husband of the main character black. Neither were true and it’s so unbelievable that it sort of ruins the characters with how out of place it feels.
I know many movies do this to be eligible for awards now, but there should at least be exemptions for true stories to stay accurate and still eligible for awards. Otherwise it feels wrong.
Also, it’s kind of sad that there will always be someone willing to take on these roles knowing they are not accurate and only in it to meet some diversity quota. It is also insulting towards the real life characters from the story to not be accurately represented. I don’t know.
I agree that I don’t care if it’s a new fiction movie full of as much diversity as possible, but it is wrong that historically accurate movies can’t qualify for awards.

With some stories, especially fictional works, race is immaterial.
It should make sense, at least in some way. Hell even in house of the dragon they do a fair bit and it doesn't detract.

I think Tom Hardy is a great actor.
I don't want to see him playing Shaka Zulu because
"Oh no! This melodrama set in 17th century Poland doesn't have any 'people of color'!"
You know why? Because

If the writing, acting, and directing are good, I really don't care.
Casting shouldn't be a distraction from the storytelling, though.
I haven't seen the new snow white, but my first impression is that I will be distracted (maybe even by the writers trying to make a point about the differences).
The entire point of great acting is to immerse the viewer into the story. To grab attention where the director wants it (which is hopefully the story).
Call out bad acting, writing, and directing. The race/sex shouldn't even be a factor.

You realize Verona is a real place, right? Being it's a real place, the characters have typically made sense. And if they haven't, the setting or the whole tone of the film is changed. Which is fine. The Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio in it did that and it was fine. Shakespeare adaptations are numerous and that's fine. Hell they could make an all black R&J (I'm sure they have) and no one would bat an eye.
What's not fine is to take a character, described as radiant and fair, and do her dirty like that. Romeo is smitten with her, as are others. (Also she's like 14 which is...errr. But it was a different time)
nothing about that actress says Juliet. She's got a damn moustache. Maybe they were thinking of going full Shakespeare and thought they were casting a man.
It's really just...inexplicable. It's less her hue and more her...head.
