I’ve known you for over 30 years and most of your family. You’re a good person but you should not be the DA. You’re too soft on crime. You’re too nice.
Have you told this to his face instead of on a message board?

Our Judges are elected not appointed. Seems like you would know this.
They run in districts and not parish wide. I can vote for some but not nearly all. Understand?

If letting violent thugs take over is your definition of a good person
Then
Yikes
Then

His office dismisses everything given to them. If you end up being sentenced for something, your case was so airtight you had no choice but the plea. Anything that requires effort will be no billed.

It needs to be publicly said so other people can say what they need to about him. He is an elected official. Not everyone has access to him like I have.
I know he knows about this thread. My initial post is hovering around 85% approval with over 140 votes cast which he knows about as well. Fair to say I’ve read the tea leaves correctly. Hated to do it but he is not doing what he was elected to do.

Speaking of replacing Doug Moreau, has anybody heard him lately on the LSU football broadcasts? He was kind of hard to listen to during last night's post-game program.
I used to love when Jim and Doug were still clicking back in the early and mid-2000s and Doug would be going over the final notes right before kickoff with the crowd yelling in the background then turning it over to the voice of the Tigers Jim Hawthorne.

He doesn’t know about this thread. Bet me and you’d lose.

I’ve lived in BR for 23 years and though I have never crossed paths with him (aside from Lowe’s), I am overall in Team Moore. Here’s why:
Hillar Moore loves this community. He is not one of those “Soros DAs” everyone is talking about. That much I believe.
I also believe that Hillar Moore is a pragmatist. He knows the judges in this town are absolute shite. Let’s be honest, judges in this town get paid by criminals to let them off. They’re the worst. Mr. Moore knows this as well.
So unless Mr Moore has an open/shut case, he will not stretch for charges that won’t stick. He’ll opt for lesser sentences if he can guarantee 100% success, even in light of our absolute garbage judiciary.
So I respectfully disagree with you Reality man.
And I also agree with the other posters: if we dump Mr. Moore, we will not like his replacement one bit.

He is a big fricking pussy and a joke of a DA

Oh without a doubt most of the judges are shite and plenty of blame there. Problem is the Louisiana Supreme Court comes down hard on lawyers that criticize them. You see that’s an ethics violation to dare criticize the untouchables in black robes. That’s why you don’t hear the people (lawyers) that know them the best say anything for fear of getting in trouble with the bar. Pretty sweet rule for judges huh?
But let’s get back to Hillar.
This is an excellent reason of why he should not be DA. Thank you. Pleading down cases to guarantee 100% success is bullshite. You don’t sacrifice justice for stats.
Why do you think this is OK? It’s not a game in criminal court. You’re dealing with the worst types of people. It’s not a guy suing his neighbor over where the property line is. It’s a guy pulling out a bat and beating the frick out of someone just because they got in an argument over where the property line is. When a victim looks to the DA office for justice after being raped, robbed, or beat up they don’t want to hear that the case should be plead down because of the judge or so that Hillar can tout a 100% success rate. WTF is wrong with you? You need to sit in criminal court and listen as victims testify what happened to them. It’s horrible.
Victims want justice and you don’t plead down cases just because you don’t have the perfect case. That’s called being scared of losing, ineffective and weak. (and some ADAs are lazy too). Criminals can smell this weakness a mile away and no longer fear the DA. Once that happens, the public suffers with more crime. A DA loses his effectiveness if he doesn’t try cases.
But let’s get back to Hillar.
