I thought to myself yeah I guess it is interesting learning how people of all different cultures have to suck up to rich Americans for tips..
In most of Europe tipping isn't common or expected.

UK is honestly just as fat as here, if not worse on average for whites outside of London
The ladies of Yorkshire would like you to know they need the padding for when they wear mini dresses and strappy heels in 30F weather and get wasted.

People go to super nice villas in Italy and eat handmade pasta and drink expensive wine = “Wow all Italians live in Villas eating pasta and drinking wine, no processed food!”
Go to a resort town in Spain where the vibes are relaxed and low stress = “Everyone in Spain is so laid back and calm!”
It’s hilarious to me that people don’t realize they are on vacation and enjoying a picturesque version of the place they are visiting and not what the typical people experience day to day. Even if you “live like the locals” in a hostel or whatever, you’re still getting a sensationalized version of what life is like there.
I know so many people who come back from visiting a place and tell me
- everyone there is happy
- nobody is fat
- everyone eats healthy
- people there appreciate life
Cracks me up
I mean it happens here too. I always hear from people who think NOLA is Bourbon St.

Smells like piss, relatively high risk of being a crime victim, what aren't we missing? Oh, pubes in your beer.

I will go ahead and point out that there is some truth here. It is a fact that governments in the EU heavily regulate food additives. The orange Fanta soft drink is clear because they don't allow orange dye. There are numerous similar examples.
I am not a dietician and can't argue as to the health benefits one way or the other but I would tend to believe that less artificial additives and chemicals is a good thing. Would you not agree?

They are pretty laid back. I remember sitting on a park bench, frustrated that the entire city was shut down so those assholes could take a nap.

Just got back from traveling half of Germany, basically everyone there is fit or at least on the thinner side until you see American tourists or older (65+) Germans who aren't walking as much.
Well there you go now you’ve met one.
In Germany, 53.5% of the population (46.6% of women and 60.5% of men) is overweight (including obesity). Obesity is present in 19.0% of adults

Agreed!
Been saying this for years
People go to Italy and Spain and come back and lament the American way of life relative to the laid back and healthier lifestyle they saw while on vacation. Guess what ! You were on vacation! Of course it seemed like they were laid back. And maybe they were laid back but everyone’s got problems. Go visit a bank in Madrid. Or a lawyers office in Italy. Or an accountant in Greece. They stress out just like we do.

In Greece or Spain?
Not in my experience.
Those guys would laugh with pity and derision when I started talking about deadlines on projects.

Nope. Not if you're talking about developed Western nations, anyway.
I already posted stats on that.
We're number 1 among those countries, but not "far more."

No, what’s worse is the people who come back from vacation and say “The food is so much healthier, I lost weight on my vacation” not realizing their out of shape arse walked 5-10 miles per day sightseeing.
Yeah, she said that too.
While also telling me that they logged about 20,000 steps a day.
Didn't connect those dots at all.

I felt that way about Costa Rica. I came home and started researching retiring there. After reading about real life there, I changed my mind. As well, it’s really a 3rd world type country to me outside of the resorts/tourist areas.

Yeah. Traveling virtually anywhere sucks arse. Traffic clogged with shitcan cars and little or no road redundancy. Still loved it though.
