The person apparently didn’t know that a search team had been looking for them.
This is like when my boss says "we tried calling you all week because you missed a lot of work, how come you didn't answer?"
And then I tell them I didn't miss work at all.

If I were lost I’d talk to the warranty people tell them to send help and I’ll buy the extended warranty

Come on
Exactly. The dude wasn't lost. If he was ignoring phone calls, he had a cell phone in working order which means he had a working GPS device.
He walked away from a group hike and spent the night on the mountain, probably because he was sick of someone's shite in the group. He was back at his car the next morning and drove home.
That's not being lost, that's camping.

Also if the person was lost and had service wouldn’t they personally have called for help?

Why did he not call someone to come and find him? Seems like he may have cheated Darwin’s theory.
Because he wasn't lost. It is a shite article. Just because someone cant find you, doesn't mean you are lost.

He? She? It?
Gotta love journalism these days.

I think it’s odd that the publication went out of its way to not reveal the sex of the hiker. No fricking way it was a man.
You must have little interaction with today’s men.

The guy wasn't truly lost, he just didn't follow his itinerary and it was noticed by officials. And because he never followed up, and didn't answer the phone, they sent a search team after him. A miscommunication.
If he were actually lost, he would have called someone, or used his GPS, or would have answered the phone from the known numbers of loved ones desperately trying to get in touch with him.

When politicians get kickbacks to ignore them, where's the motivation?

Maybe I want some peace and quiet from the shitshow this country has become. I suppose it would be flattering if people decided for me that I was lost.

We've just abandoned the proper use of plural and singular pronouns, I see. Well, not I. They.

A the guardian article about this says it was a man
Posted on 10/26/21 at 11:21 am to carhartt
That doesn't make sense for obvious reasons, but thinking deeper about it has me more lost. If you're getting phone calls, then you have a damn map. Was this dipshit carrying an old school Nokia or something? My map on my phone works in places where I can't even get a phone call. How was this person lost? Were they actually lost or just on a long hike? As it stated, the person was not aware of anyone looking for him.

There’s a reason they were vague about the details of the idiot that got lost.
Yeah I’m guessing it wasn’t a cis-gendered white man

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if I'm a hiker and I'm lost I will answer every call, or better yet, just call for help. If he received calls, can he not send calls?

Is this the level of journalism that we can look for to from here on out. A “woke” BS site that’s too afraid to mis gender or mis pronoun someone so they put as little information about the idiot as possible and use vague pronouns?
That oppressive arse Guardian article assumes the idiot is a guy and wants to be called he/his. How dare they have details and descriptions of the idiot!

Be rescued or listen to some dipshit trying to sell me car insurance/recording of a politician....
Guess I'll die.
