High School reunions

How do you guys feel about them?
I've got one coming up and I was looking forward to it at first, but as it's gotten closer I'm having second thoughts. The two guys I've remained really close with through the years aren't attending, so I don't have them there as a back-up plan if it blows. I just don't want to commit the time and money (tickets are kinda steep) to go just to find out only a handful of people actually showed up, or that it's only people I honestly don't give a shite about and get caught in 3 hours of bullshite small talk. Or worse, realize how many of them act like they're still in high school. There's no list of RSVPs and I'm not sending out 100 feelers to figure out who's going. My fiance can DD, so I suppose I could just say wtf and go to get shitfaced.
So anybody have any stories or opinions? Waste of time or pleasantly surprising? It's a 15-year FWIW. Skipped the 5 year because nothing has changed in 5 years, and missed the 10-year due to a conflict.

I avoid them. I started a new life at college, and have no desire to see those people again.

I've had 1 so far and I was in England at the time. The way I look at it is anyone from high school that I really care about being around I'm friends with already... don't need a reunion to hang out w/ them.

If you weren't engaged and were single, I'd so take a chance of smashing a good looking divorcee, or that girl you never gave the time of day to that has turned out to be a late bloomer.

Went to a 10-year last year. It was fine, don't regret going, but it'll probably be the last one I attend.

Ambivalent. Attended my ten year but not twentieth. My thirtieth is coming in a few weeks but I won't be going. You get thirty years out and that shite seemed like it happened in another lifetime. You get less nostalgic about it as you get older or at least I have.

Go. You will have a better time than you think. I was dreading mine for all the reasons you list and ended up having a blast seeing people that I had forgotten all about. Plus, you never know if that kid that hung around your group and didn't say much is now a gazillionaire and wants you to come vacation on his yacht in the Bahamas (happened).
If you really want to know who is going, get on FaceBook and look around. There will be info there I can almost guarantee. I don't have an account but got my buddy to look beforehand and, sure enough, everyone was on that thing chatting about it.

I join the FB group, see what people are doing, but have zero (0) interest in going to them.

5 year was fun, 10 year was miserable, no desire to go to the next one.

Going to my wife's 10 year tonight and I plan on getting absolutely shite housed because of it
I'll update results probably tomorrow morning
Eta. I didn't go to my 5 or 10 year because I frankly don't care

Skipped the 5 year because I was depressed and didn't want to see those people.
Went to the 10, had a decent time.
Won't be going to another. Haven't hung out with someone I graduated HS with in roughly 3 years. I still like lots of them, but they don't care about me and I don't care about them, and that's OK

Yeah, anyone I've wanted to stay in contact with I have. I have my 10 year this year, and I and my friends at large have no desire to go back to it. And all my friends tend to be the people who left the state at large.
25 year depending on how rich I am, I may go back just to show that they should have voted for me to be "Most Likely to Succeed". Instead they voted a guy who only achieved an Associate's Degree and works for State Farm. The guy has 3 kids now, so I'm sure I have more money than him, but I'm not as high as I want to be yet to return.

Facebook has made reunions obsolete
Posted on 5/13/16 at 3:01 pm to Neauxla_Tiger
My 10-year HS reunion is coming up in a couple years. I went to high school and college in Madison, Wisconsin. Quite a few of my HS friends did the same. We're still close-as-can-be to this day. I don't think any of us have the need/desire to go back and see people that we are no longer in touch with.

Went to the 10. It was pleasant enough but I'm out until the 75th so I can officially stake my claim to the title of Last Man Standing.

10 year didn't give 2 shits. Didn't go.
20 year I felt nostalgic, so I went. I had a good time.

They are fine until you have kids.
I went to 5/10 and 15, it was fun, good times.
After that, it's just a big look at how successful I am now deal when all I care about is kids and usually have stuff involved with them that conflicts with anything they set up.

Yeah that's my feeling as well. There's probably 10 or so people I was good friends with in high school that I grew apart from that I might enjoy seeing again, but who knows if they're going or if they are still acting like an exclusive clique. But I just know I'm going to walk in that place and immediately regret blowing my money and Saturday night. But I haven't gained any weight, kept my hair, and have a good career and fiance, so showing off might be fun
