My 5 yr I was away enlisted in the Army and from what I heard it was a big drunk fest (not my thing). I went to my 10 yr and that's 3 hrs of my life I'll never get back.
I've attended my last class reunion.

Lost my Dad in Dec.of 2001. It hit my mom really hard, she had her 50th the following May. That was about the only thing that really helped her to get a handle on her grief. That, and my kids.

I didn't go to mine -- had much other pressing matters.
I was also one of the few people out of state. From pics I saw, it looked like a normal Saturday meeting of the Hometown Heros Association.

Seems you're worried people like yourself will show up.
Yeah because you can't drink anymore when you graduate. I'm getting more at high school drama, meatheads trying to act like hardasses, people talking shite, etc.

I would tell you to go. I've been to each of mine I'm past 25. Each time I go I end up talking to someone I wasn't really friends with in high school and find out they are a really cool person and we have a lot in common.
What you will find is that you now have people you hang around with but in high school you had friends. When you show up it'll be like you saw them last week and it'll be awesome. You'll pick up right where you left off and it won't be odd.

For those that have been do you feel obligated to talk to everyone you walk by? My class was only around 275 people so basically everyone knows who each other is. It seems like it would be rude to walk by an old classmate without acknowledging them, but the place will be full of them and I'm not looking to have a conversation with every damn person there

This question is person-specific.
I was voted (amongst other positive things) "Most Likely To Succeed" and I did.
I married well, have good kids and I've aged well.
So a class reunion for me is not particularly entertaining or interesting.
If I were in the middle of the pack as to demographics, I guess it'd be better.
I would have to nominate you and Sir Winston as the two biggest douchebags on this site.

It's just facts, Broseph.
Just like some folks do not get along with their siblings as adults, by and large the folks whom I went to High School with generally have the intellectual curiosity of a pile of rocks.
They haven't travelled, they weren't educated, they have ruined their own domestic situations and in-turn ruined their offspring's developmental curves. Attempting to hold a conversation with them about any subject is tortuous.
Here's my options-
1.How's your husband (or wife)?
They've been divorced at least once and usually by now have resorted to dating skanks. They are probably walking STD Petrie dishes.
2. How are your kids?
Jail, drugs, unemployed, underemployed, domestic issues, grand kids with baby momma's or some other uncomfortable relationship, still living with one of the parents, raising their grandkids, etc.
3. Are you still working at __________?
Laid off, worker's comp claim, some form of disability, chronic unemployment, etc.
4. What do you do for fun?
Watch Wrestling, MMA, NASCAR, go deer hunting or freshwater fishing or pull the fifth-wheel camper somewhere for the weekend. Wonderful.
5. Read any good books/seen any good movies or plays/been to any interesting concerts lately?
Please.

One upside to going to HS with a bunch of nerds.
That situation will NOT be what I experience at my HS reunion

You don't have to talk to everyone you see. They will be talking to other folks too.
Trust me, you will be uneasy for about 30 seconds when you walk in and after that it's like school just let out a few hours ago and it's the same. People never really change. The idiots you knew in high school are still idiots mostly. They are just more mature idiots.
Trust me... it'll be fun.

I went to my 10th and 25th. Missed others. Enjoyed the 25th the best. Everybody was just there to have a good time.

I'm not reading your post or any of the responses.
I had a blast at mine. I enjoyed seeing old friends and hVing a little "remember that time."
That said I didn't blow a bunch of dudes at drum camp like you did. So I can see how you are conflicted.

Never been. I am in touch with a couple of folks but no reason to fly 4,000 miles to see them.

I went a 20 reunion. I talked more to several folks there in that one night than I talked to them the entire four years I was there. Not because they were dicks in school, but because we hung in different cliques or groups. With ""friends" I had not seen in a decade or even more, it was pretty cool to pick things back up. There was a lot of "remember when's" and those were fun. Especially the ones I had not thought about since high school. I had no interest in the 5 , 10, or 15 year reunions. Like most others said it was pretty damn fun. Will do the next one too.

I recommend going to your 10th, just to see how it goes. You might get reacquainted with some old friends, or might make friends with people you never really knew before. One good thing about high school reunions is the cliques that existed before shouldn't exist anymore. People are generally more interesting to talk to.
20th reunion conversations will center around kids, careers and divorces. Any reunions beyond that are bound to be more and more depressing.

my 10 year reunion is coming up this year. I won't be going, frick that shite. The people in my class that I actually cared to stay in touch with have my phone number, or have me on Facebook. The rest of them can go frick themselves.

My 10-year one got organized and the invites went out on Facebook. Half of my friends either don't have or never check Facebook, so almost nobody knew about the $75 per person thing. I didn't go because I found out about it 3 days before and the dumb brawds who organized it could've gotten my number and called me if they wanted to bad enough. We're all pretty easy to get in touch with. They just didn't put in the work.
I would've gone because I like hanging out with everyone, but the lack of effort made me say no way José.
From what I was told, only like 15 people showed up out of 350.
Eta: I saw more people from HS at Hogs for the Cause than I would've seen there

I went to my wifes 10yr w the same plan. Ended up getting shitfaced, grabbing microphone and began to seduce the crowd with my fergie like voice and michael jackson dance moves. Ended up winning some award, to drunk to remember. Wife said I kept yelling that I would sign autographs after the show. I dont know about her but I had a great time

I've made it to a couple of them and had better than expected times. The 10th was fun with a lot of showing off and partying. The next was just fun seeing each other.
If you went to a lot of schools I could see it not being so important but easily +50% of us had gone K-12 and probably 90% 8-12.
Wife did get a bored so I dropped her off at my parents and continued the reunion with my main friend group for hours and hours. Understandably, she has vowed to not go to any more of mine. Which is okay by me.
