I think Paul is certainly qualified and after Myron Daniels, was the most qualified on paper.
I have three issues with the hire, not that it matters.
#1 - this being sold as a “transparent” process and how “transparent” it was. Paul was the pick before the test was even given, so that bill of goods shouldn’t be sold to the public.
#2 - not a single question was asked of Paul by the committee or the media about his involvement in the Edmonson ordeal. He was on that trip and many other trips that Edmonson was on. He was in the same inner circle that has been criticized for getting some serious preferential treatment from Edmonson. How did the mayor vet Paul to ensure that he wasn’t involved in any improper doings on those trips?
#3 - the last trooper that was hired to led BRPD, Dwayne White, was a complete disaster. Would have liked to hear his opinion on White’s tenure.
Now with that said, I have no idea how this guy will lead but I hope he succeeds because if he does, everyone wins. He spoke of buy-ins during his press conference today. Well, IMO, his biggest buy-in will be with the rank and file of the BRPD. If they don’t buy-in to him, he will not succeed. He has to win them over first and foremost. The coming weeks will be the biggest indicator on if he will be successful.
Also, I really liked his answer to Gravy’s questioned regarding Jeff Landry’s Alton Sterling investigation. His answer was perfect and is a glimmer of hope that he might not be the yes man some people fear he is.

Nope. That review of possible violation of civil rights was done by the US DOJ and FBI.
The state AG is currently conducting the criminal investigation.
AG assign investigation to LSP
But you are right that they haven’t released their findings

I love how Gravy acts like he is anyone of importance. Like he is on a similar level as the chief of police. Oh you're willing to work with him and give him a chance?
Sorry but you have that backwards

So why does black baton rouge not like this guy?

Because he's a cop

He's your typical Al Sharpton protege. Muscle yourself into some sort of position of power in the black community then threaten unrest if you don't get paid off. His entire business plan is predicated on extortion.

Bingo. He's a nobody, but is so fricking obnoxious that he's weaseled his way into Brooke's inner circle enough to make himself believe the city operates based on his opinion.
I think his lying posts following the BRPD officer-involved shooting a few months ago proves that he is deserving of nothing more than a dishwasher gig at the Golden Corral.

Gravy doesn't even have a job.

Good luck getting his fat arse away from the chocolate wonderfall long enough to wash a dish.

this can be good
St.Louis just hired a Black Chief, and majority of these guys will not put up with the SJW/BLM, protesting bullshite.
They will come down harder, and protestors can't cry racism, or make any racism claims. New Chief won't be afraid to bring in the riot gear.
It could be the best for Both Cities.
