Basically, officers, on the public dime, went hundreds of miles out of their way en route to a conference in California, to spend a night in Vegas, all while collecting OT. Edmonson got fired for knowing about it. This guy was on the trip and is essentially getting a promotion.

ETA: He flew to San Diego for the same conference, but did not go along with some of the officers to Vegas.
Less mad, but still not optimistic.

Slow your roll, KingRobert. Nobody has confirmed that he did anything on that San Diego trip that was unethical or even wasteful. Those side-trip guys were not the only one's invited.
Big difference between going to the event, staying in the event hotel, etc versus what they did.

No. Only 3 of them(plus a wife) took a LSP SUV, the rest flew there and didn't do anything out of ordinary. It was Edmonson's knowledge of the side-trip those guys took that got him in hot water.
There's NOTHING to suggest that the rest of the group did anything out of ordinary for a trip/event like that.
