Tl;dr - Tesla basically skipped a lot of common car manufacturing processes like prototype tooling in order to keep the Model 3 price low.
They are currently facing issues sourcing battery components and the cars are having problems due to bad R&D. The article explains it in more depth

I used to be into Elon Musk, but his fanboys have turned it completely around for me.
He's done some good things, but at this point he's about as good as the headlines they print about him. Nothing but hot air with an almost cult like following.

i have the S and it is fantastic. Truly love it.
But I would wait a year or two to get a Model 3. Let them work out all their kinks in material, software and process then hop on board. At that point, I'm sure the car will be fantastic.

I’ve never understood why so many people are willing to deepthroat Elon Musk. He’s just another entrepreneur, and he relies A LOT on government subsidies.
