IQ is also not a completely fixed number. Genetics/etc. certainly play a part in your IQ,. But you can also increase your IQ with cognitive training. Rural states are not going to have the same educational rigor as other states. Culture in the region will also play a part. It's not surprising that states with less white collar industry are going to have a culture that does not train the skills that increase an IQ score.

To be fair a lot of those states have a higher percentage of African Americans so that brings their numbers down.

The Dakotas, Iowa,Montana and Wyoming are doing pretty well.

50% above the average will dominate the 50% below the average.....so the number is irrelevant for local business......now big business is a different story....

I left Mensa last year after they raised the annual dues to over $100. There aren't really any significant benefits to being a member.
My Prometheus Society dues are only $10/year though!
