They had to come to my home twice . I asked why and they said the signature didn’t match the one they had on record.
I opposed it on round one. In now.

What are the proposed city borders? Will this leave pretty much just LSU, downtown, and North BR on an island by itself?

Can someone give me the quick rundown of why this issue is so controversial? I suspect I understand but maybe there's something I'm missing.
Basically ~40% of the taxes for EBR come from the unincorporated areas of SBR. Those residents want to form their own city in order to create a Texas-like ISD because EBR public schools are HORRIBLE. NBR sees this as the whites segregating from the blacks all while are pushing for their own City of Baton Rouge council in order to be the majority and take all the taxes of SBR without giving them a voice.
Also, SBR is tired of the bullshite from NBR

One part of Baton Rouge, South, wants to do better for themselves and their families. They want better schools.
The other part of Baton Rouge, North, wants more hand outs and aren't willing to accept personal accountability and responsibility for the continuous generational choices that are repeating themselves over and over. It's always someone else's fault.
More to it, but this covers it.

They will be bussing people in from every street corner in BR to vote for this one.
So they’re gonna bus people who can’t vote on this in?
You.... do know.... only people in the proposed st George area get to vote on this..... right?

I almost positive it has to pass in EBR, statewide, and the proposed area.
Really? I haven't paid attention this time since I am no longer in the proposed limits, but I thought last time they said it was only the people in the proposed city that would vote. I seem to remember them trying to change the rules to allow people from all of EBR to vote instead of just the people inside the new city.

doesn't it go to a statewide election?

that is correct
No.....
No it is not
Once the city is formed and they move to form a new school district, THAT is statewide.
The formation of the city itself is not

No it has some pretty janky areas included, like Gardere, and also some exemptions I believe.

This is absolutely insane. Me and my fellow residents of Da Parish should not have any say in whether the good and fair people of unincorporated EBR want to have a form of self-governance.

It should pass in EBR. Cities like Central and Zachary always have good turn out for elections. There is nothing those areas like more than trying to stick it to the shithole Baton Rouge has become every chance they get.

Ok, that's good. Sorry, was reading what multiple other people posted.

Probably not as badly as they will increase for people inside the new city.
Posted on 10/11/18 at 11:28 am to LSUFanHouston
They’re mixing up the formation of the city with the formation of the school district.
The formation of the city is locals only. If you live in the proposed city, you can vote on it. If not, tough shite.
The formation of the school district is statewide. Everyone gets to vote on that.
