Words like slap, gun or even marijuana are just some of the words I have witnessed being edited out of YouTube videos I have seen recently. Is this a new woke thing I’m just coming to realization of, regular words now being treated as profanity, or is it some contextual thing where these words are to be hidden from people as if they were tree yeahs old, but if memory serves me, I don’t ever remember having my mouth washed out with soap for uttering any of those words.

What is this new weirdness now?

They probably get demonetized if they say those words, so they tow the line.

You got any examples? I wanted to see it but the video I watched didn't edit the word gun out.

YouTube is one step down from the Ministry of Truth. YouTubers can't talk about pedos or nazis and a whole litany of other things. It really makes me wonder what creepy agendas they have over there.

I just watch YouTube for music videos and some random poker videos. What the hell are y’all watching YouTube for?

Well first off, you can easily find YouTube videos with these words. Second, tv and radio has been editing words out of songs for a while including references to guns and drugs for the "clean" versions.

Pretty much this.

Can't show any blood either. Not even a minor cut on a finger. I think it was Vice Grip Garage that mentioned that a while back when he dinged a finger but didn't show it.

You guys find anything to be outraged by these days.

Like the poster above said, radio stations have always edited songs for "clean versions".

Movies on regular TV or TBS etc edit out cursing.

If you ever watch Stand By Me on TV they don't even say "Lard arse!" They just chant "Lard! Lard! Lard!" during the pie eating contest.

I swear to God you guys bitch and moan more than a woman and try to find anything to be outraged by. "LOOK! LOOK! THIS IS WOKE!!" Even though you have no clue what the word "Woke" even means. LOL

Also, yes they do swear on YouTube if they aren't getting monetized. If they are being monetized then they won't swear for the first 10 minutes. After that they won't get dinged.

Someone is probably editing the words out because they might be triggering...

Are the same standards strictly applied to rap music with their racist, misogynistic and violent lyrics?

Youtube will demonotize videos that has certain words on it. The Youtuber wants to get paid, so they must adhere by the rules of their boss(Youtube).

If the person making the video doesn't care about their video being monetized or not, then no words will be edited out.

Until recently, YouTube was demonetizing guys attaching a silencer to a gun, so don’t fricking act like it’s just “normal” censorship.

YouTube routinely censors content they do not like more closely than that which they do. Remember, they're now a Google entity. Content creators, especially those who advocate for subjects that are not those espoused by the leftish side of the debate, come in for detailed scrutiny. A couple of folks I watch regularly, often speak about having to avoid certain words that will get them demonetized and their videos blocked by the algorithms.
